I have a sony Vaio N250e. It powers up, boots up

Hi
Does this occur when charger is also plugged in?

If it does then sounds like the CPU vent ports are clogged and CPU may be overheating,

Turn laptop upside down and look at CPU vents, if clogged simply use vacuum cleaner to clear.

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ220E. The person I talk

The unavailable device could be the mic jack for the external mic. Try going into the skype options menu and select the mic audio there. It will also test it at the same time. Good Luck

I have a Sony Vaio

You mentioned "recently my laptop never goes into hibernation" and that is the key to your issues. In order to solve that you'll need to reinstall some signficant part of the OS, using the system disk that came with the PC. When hibernation works again, your mouse and Word problems will be fixed, too. I suggest you start by uninstalling and re-installing (the reinstall will be done automatically by the operating system) your touch pad from the Device Manager (Windows Help tells you how to run Dev. Mgr.).

I also suggest after you set Windows to disable Hibernation as it's got a bug in XP (you can do so from the Power options applet in Control Panel).

Vaio internal mic

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype. Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.
Hope this helps. Bud

Optical drive working before, then after few months it's not there

First you have to go to system setup (BIOS) to see whether it is detected there under peripheral devices, if it is, then the case is easier.
Then when the system boots, just right click on my computer, then properties, then select the hardwares tab, then click on device manager.
When you get to device manager page, try and locate DVD/CDrom Drives, then click on it, if your drive is there, then just right-click on it, and select uninstall, and after this, on that same page, click on 'Actions', and select "Scan for hardware changes". But if its not there. Just click on the "Actions, and Then select "Scan for hardware changes".
Now, If it is not detected in your BIOS, Eject your CDRom drive tray, and shutdown your PC Completely, while its still ejected. Then when you power on your PC Back, Close the tray back first, and allow the system to boot.
This would enable the Drive to be detected as if its just being attached in the BIOS.
Hope this helps you out.
Goodluck!

Sony Vaio VGN-N250E/W Not Booting/Responding

Take the battery and power supply out and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This will reset your hardware settings. Your backup battery isnt your problem. Does your battery light turn on when charging? Does your keyboard lights light up when it runs for a second (try pressing caps lock)?

Mouse does not work

Your description sounds like it might only be a driver problem requiring re-installation.
Since you didn't tell us which operating system your Sony has installed, the following may or may not make any sense to you.
- Open the Control Panel - Open the System folder - Click on Hardware - Find the item for Mice and other pointing devices and expand (if not already expanded and marked as defective) - Delete any entries there
Reboot your system (use tab keys if needed)  This should force Win to 'find' the 'new devices' and reinstall the drivers.
Of course, being the wondrous OS it is, it may not act as designed. Good luck-
