The previous poster is right; I do repairs on these all the time, and the most common problem is a cracked screen. The crack is on the back so you can't see it. The screen will need to be replaced.

Try pushing the reset button with a paper clip while the unit is plugged into the unit. This worked for me.

Ok I had same problem, Zen V Plus wouldn't switch on, when plugged into PC no lights came nothing, absolutly dead. Found this on another website and well i'll be jiggered it worked, hope it does for you too.

Plug it into the PC, hold the power switch in the 'on' position, THEN trigger the reset button, (hold it in for a few seconds). make sure you feel the reset button depress.

Good Luck

HOLLLYYYY CRRRRAAAAPPP i found out how to fix it!!!! now, to be alittle more civilized, i pried off the plate covering the button interface thingy, then i took off the plate that covers the screen. now, with the actually screen exposed (was a plastic screen... protector) you very gently pull on the exposed screen.okay, there will be sticky foam thing that were keeping the screen from moving or whatever, and that will come loose, nothing has broken. i dont know any technical terms, but there is a filmy thing connecting the screen to the circuits and all such stuff. also, there is brown tape covering that to make sure it stays in place i guess. mine had come a little loose, so i messed with it for a while, made sure it was all connected, and put some more tape to make sure it stayed in place. now it works again!!! i hope it works for you good people of the internet. maybe i have stumbled upon the answer to the greeeeeeaaaaaaat queeeeesstiiiooonnn. post some kind of response if this works for you i hope it has helped.

I was having the same problems as all you guys, zen not detected, install driver, cant find driver etc...I finally clicked on the usb serial bus controllers in (control panel-system-hardware-device manager) and right clicked update driver for the usb.It found a driver on the c drive automatically,I rebooted, and everything worked.I noticed previously in the device manager I had 2 usb controllers (one for 2.0 and one for 1.xx).After the update it only shows one,and all my usb devices work, including the Zen!.

If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
or try this:

Just connect your Zen onto your PC (NOT LAP TOP) on a USB.
If does not start charging (you´ll see arrow and pause/ play buttons flashing slowly) then you need to RESET your ZEN.
How to reset: You´ll find a tiny little hole by on/off button on the side. With ZEN connected to the PC USB or onto wall charger try turning ZEN on, it doesen´t matter if it turns on or not. Then insert a sowing pin or office paper clip end in this reset hole for a few seconds and release. Give it a couple of seconds and see the lights go off onto charging mode. LEAVE IT CHARGING for 24 hours. Make sure your PC will NOT turn itself on safe mode or hibernates in this period, it has to be ON for charging, at all times.
This is it.

CREATIVE ZEN V-PLUS. COULD NOT TURN ON AND IS NOT CHARGING

Hi, Gud day!

I was charging my Creative Zen V-Plus with my pc, after quite some time, i checked if it was already full... but when I saw it, it was not charging, it says low battery. when i tried to charge it again by plugging it at another usb port, it will show the sign that it was charging for a second and the image will be almost full but then it will turn into low battery, the red one, a second after...

i could not turn it on again anymore... my computer wont read it either, it turns on but turns off again immediately...

Thank you so much.
