I have the kdf-e50a10 and I have thin vertical lines repeating the color spectrum all the way across the entire 50" screen. You can just barely make out an image through the lines. I'm thinking that replacing the light engine will resolve the issue. Someone also suggested the Q-Box. Does anyone else have any thoughts?
Had Sony KDF-E50A10 that had the same line problems after 16 months. Was fine at lunch time and when got home from work and turned it on, they were the lines. Want over $800 to fix it. Told me it was the B-Board assembly. Sony was no help. They have exteneded the warrenty on another part that works along with the B-Board but not just the B-Board itself, so probably not any more Sonys. I'm going with LCD now.

I've had the tv for less than a year, and just today when I turned it on, the colorful lines appeared across the entire screen. Last night it was working fine, and now all I hear is the fan running inside. Attached is a picture of what it looks like.
When I turn it on, the black screen is on for a while, and then turns to this. Nothing seems to work, menu, volume, channel, etc.
I had the same thing happen to me this morning. I turned on the TV and it had colored vertical lines through the whole screen. I called Sony and they had me unplug the TV for about 15 minutes. This solved the problem. They said the boards just needed to be reset. It fixed the problem and I am happy with my Sony once again.

i have a sony kdf-60xbr950 in which the optical block is going bad. Sony is going to pay for the light but they want me to pay for installation. There is a door in front of the tv with two screws to pull out the lamp i was wandering is this how you change the optical block or do you have to go to the rear to remove the part. I have a Sony KDFE50A10 with a bad optical block. A small red band across top of set has turned into a 6 inch wide band with a small blue band below it. I was told the repair would cost $1145. This set purchased in Sept 05. Problem began in Dec of 07.Not that many hours on it. Sony has told me that they will not help me on repair as set is out of warranty. Needless to say, will never buy a Sony again.
I think, Lamp compartment locates at rear side near cooling fan. Open the cover and pull out the lamp. Please Don't pull HOT lamp.

My KDF-E50A10 works great, until it turns itself off every 5 min. The green light blinks 44 times, every time, and then it comes back on as if nothing happened.

I have a Sony KDF-E50A10 LCD Projection TV, and it doesn't seem to want to turn on. The TV seems to atempt to turn on (the power/standby light blinks green for about 4 seconds) after this, the light turns to red and blinks 4 times then stops and then blinks 4 times again. The power/standby light continues to blink red for 4 times until it is unplugged. I have replaced the lamp, and still no change. Before I spend a bundle on service calls I thought I'd see if there were any ideas that may help solve this little problem of mine.
4 times blink error shows that any FAN is not running in TV as there are 4 fans in this TV.
Please check fan connectors and make sure all are plugged securely.

When I'm trying to play my DVD I am getting "Display connected non-HDCP compliant" message and then my TV screen goes dark and TV has no sound.I have Philips 5990 multy region DVD that connected by HDMI to a Sony KDF-E50A10 50 in DLP
The HDMI cable was causing "Display connected non-HDCP compliant" error message to appear.
When I reconnected my DVD to TV using regular cable with 3 color connectors(i don't know what is the proper name for that cable) that error message no longer appears on my screen and I was able to watch my movie normally.

The TV worked fine last night, this am- > dark screen. Replaced the lamp (F93087500) this am, got multi-colored vertical lines across the screen. Talked w/ Sony- they said to call a service rep, there is a problem w/ TV (could not be fixed over the phone).
Can anyone help?

Yellowish ring that takes up most of the screen. It started as a yellow circle and has grown into a large yellow ring. Against a black back ground it appears as a blue ring.
The optical engine has a build up of dust. This can cause yellow shapes and blotches to appear. It is no easy task on this model to dismantle and clean the engine.

KDF-E50A10 TURNS ON THEN FLASHES GREEN FOR ABOUT A MINUTE THEN KEEPS FLASHING RED .WHATS WRONG?
# of red flashes = error code.
3x = lamp door or lamp not fully inserted
4x = fan error
5x = lamp driver error
6x = power supply or thermal fuse blown

My Model is the Sony Wega KDF-E50A10 Standby Light is blinking 6 times. Tried to replace the Lamp, but still blinking. When first plugged in, wil blink 3 times, but then goes back to 6 blinking lights. Any other suggestions, or is it best and more cost effective to replace the TV.
Power supply could be failing
