Place the handset in the charger and press find handset for 4 seconds.This will register the handset. do the same for other handsets.

The First Thing That I can think of is that as you said they wouldnt resync to the phone line...i had this issue last week and i found it helpful to unplug all the equipment batteries also and start by pluging in the base where the telephone line connects and then plug in a handset and set it on the base for 5mins this will resync it do that to all the handsets and it should solve your problem. P.S. Let Me know if this doesnt work and i can help you try some other troubleshooting options.
