On an SLR camera such as yours, all you have to do is flip up the flash...it will fire when you snap the picture.

Turn on s3is cannon power shot to take pictures and the led screen is black cant take pictures

The image in the LCD monitor will darkn in strong SUNLIGHT. This is normal, is not constitute a badfunction. This iamge will not recorded when shooting still photos, but it will be recorded when shooting movies.Read your owner manual section troubleshootingGod bless you

Powershot s3 is memory card locked

Look at your memory card. SD/SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

This is not an answer. The S3 normally does not produce dark pictures, and I have seen this issue before. It has to do with a setting somewhere on that camera that needs to be adjusted. I wish I knew what that setting was/is as my wife's camera has recently started doing this ...
