How can we prevent global warming?
Prevent global warming? It is already among us!
If you mean to reduce global warming, then I would answer "Reduce your carbon and greenhouse gas emissions."
My infoglo has stopped displaying
try unpluging the unit, remove the batteries and replace them, disconnect the phone lines and wait before about five minutes and do a fresh hook up. Do everything you did when you first bought it. If it still won't display then you unit may have fallen and the leds connections could have been dislodged.
I hope your unit reboots. I have a Discovery Channel Blue Globe.
Lightning storm knocked out my InfoGlobe, one of
Jesse,
When lightning storm hits anything it burns the equipment either completely or partially. In your case it seems the latter. Partial damage. Open it up and look inside. Can you see any brown outs or do you smell some burns??? Need repairs.
Caller ID does not work
try going to your phone settings and go to calling settings you should be able to disable and enable it there.
Need Repair for OL-3000
All programing functions are controlled on the main (stationary) board. All display functions are controlled on the Rotor (spinning board.) Here are some steps to take if you are having display problems. Remove the three mounting screws that hold the rotor to the motor shaft. The LED display board is attached perpendicular to the rotor board and is soldered to the rotor board. Over time, the connections break due to the centrifugal force of the spinning rotor. CAREFULLY, with a low amp solder iron and a fine tip, re-heat the board to the display. That should solve the problem. If you were a bit sloppy with the solder, remove the solder with a fine wick and try again!
Blank line through display
Yes. The problem is broken connections where the LED board is soldered to the rotor board. Feel free to e-mail me for more help

If you can solder with a fine solder gun you can fix the problem!

Cannot access menu
Use the up and down button to scroll through the menu choices. Once in a menu choice, use the left and right buttons to scroll sideways. A little confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature.
FYI - "CID LIST" is the first menu option, so you are in the menu at that time. As soon as you get to "CID LIST" hit the up or down button to go to the other choices. If this makes no sense, post back and I will try to help. :)
Olympia infoglobe
Funny that I came across this. I just now fixed this exact problem. This unit had failed after an electrical storm. Solution found elsewhere suggested removing the batteries and unplugging the A/C adapter for 10 minutes. (I waited 30). Reinstall batteries and reattach A/C adapter. Buttons worked to get to the erase memory option, which I did. Infoglobe is now functioning properly. This is also the instructions for clearing the "eeprom error" readout that many infoglobes exhibit after a power surge. Good Luck!
Noisy
I had the same problem with mine. The only solution we could come up with was to place a small towel/washrag underneath it, and wedge it into something if you can. This solved our problem.

Noise? Louder than normal motor noise? The display is created by the revolving LED board that is connected to a motor. It should be quiet unless you pick it up and give a good listen. Let me assume that you mean that it is normal noise, indicating that the unit is turning. Unplug the power as well as the phone lines from the unit. First, remove the plastic globe. There are 4 points that the globe is connected, two towards the rear and two in front on either side of the control buttons. Press the globe at the front ones and lift towards the rear. After you have removed the globe, remove the three screws that hold the rotor (looks like an "L") to the motor shaft. The LED display is soldered to the rotor. These solder joints break and need to be re-soldered. By adding a small amount of heat as you are bending the display slightly inward, you can repair the connections. Only use low watt solder gun! Re-attach the rotor and globe (unit will not spin with globe off) re-connect the power, press the select button and check out the display. If all connections were made, you will have succeeded. If a line or two are missing, try again!
