Nikon COOLPIX L4 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Lens cleaning
Your camera is with fixed type of lens. Hence self cleaning lenses is not advisable. Contact camera technician will save your camera.
Regarding starting on the camera
This camera is now ten years old, and will only take an SD card, with a max limit of 2GB. It cannot recognise or use a more modern SDHC card, which is what I suspect you have been trying to use.
My camera won't flash.
You can force the flash to off. on page 18 of the manual. You can see if the flash will fire while pressing the shutter release button.
If this does not help, remove the battery for a few moments and replace it. If the error keeps coming back, after you did change the settings to flash on, contact a Nikon service centre close by.
Why do the batteries die so fast ?
because its a power-hungry beast..... i would make it a battery pack modification and just use it as a in-car recorder for insurance purposes.
Broken screen 20.1 mp s3400
Contact a Nikon certified service centre and ask what the replacement of the screen cost. Then look what a new camera costs and decide.
If you still can make pictures, but you can't see the results, go on shooting and try to live wit the broken screen. Take care from a broken screen sometimes dangerous fluids can leak out. Don't touch the chemicals, wipe them off with a paper towel.
File contains no image data
If you format, you will lose everything...format means erase and optimize. Take your card to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak picture maker machine. It will usually read all the pics on a card and you can make a cd of them on the machine.
Nikon Coolpix L4 flash not working
This has happened to mine a couple of times. I cannot select flash, and the blur indicator is on most of the time.
Solution is to go into 'menu', select 'SET UP' then 'reset all'. My flash selection then works again.
Since one doesn't tend to set much up with a basic camera like this, resetting shouldn't cause any issues.
Hope this helps
Memory card malfunction
Pictures can sometimes be recovered by sending the card to a service provider, or by downloading software designed to recover the pictures from the card.
It is not clear weather the problem is the card or the camera, however to recover the pictures from the card would be the same process. If you do not have one you will need to buy a USB card reader to load the card on the computer.
Consider buying another card to test in the camera, if you so wish. If the camera is new enough also consider contacting the manufacturer for warranty assistance.
