I bought a Nikon 5700 from the Pawn shop is it still covered for the recall if it needs to be fixed?

most companies , you need the original receipt, but it is worth a call, tell them you lost receipt, usually all recalls are covered no matter what.

Red light display with SB

The flashing red light indicates that the camera's flash is charging. Your electronic flash does not work on the low voltage supplied by the camera's battery. Instead, the battery is used to charge a capacitor(s) that are connected in a manner that raises the voltage to a level that will fire the flash. If the batteries are not adequately charged or the capacitor(s) are leaking, which will occur as they age, enough voltage will not be stored to allow the flash to fire. Make sure your batteries are fully charged. Remember, rechargeable batteries do go bad after time and must periodically be replaced. If the battery is fully charged and the red light continues to flash, the camera will need to be sent in for repair (probably replacement of the capacitor(s)). Call the Nikon Service Center at 1-800-645-6687 9AM-8PM EST, Monday to Friday, and they can arrange for you to have your camera evaluated and provide you with an estimate without cost. Your camera is rather old and it is possible that it might make more sense to replace it with a new model.

NIKON COOLPIX S6100-PTP

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Your CCD sensor most likely has what is referred to as a "dead pixel" or "stuck pixel", which is a pixel in the sensor that is not functioning properly anymore. There is not much to do to get it fixed. If you have an image editing program such as photoshop, corel draw or gimp, it is very simple to clone or heal the pixel out.
