Hello
Jimscs,
I understand that you are having a problem with you window air conditioner. You state that the unit is not cooling any longer and can not hear the compressor kick on.
I would suggest checking the
capacitor on the unit. This is a cheap item that will tell you weather to purchase a new unit or not as servicing window units is not worth the labor costs.
1. Disconnect the power.
2. Take the rear cover off of the unit
3. Locate the
capacitor it will look something like below
4. Go to a local hardware store and replace the
capacitor or as you are a electronic tech you may know how to check capacitors.
5. Put the cover back in place and plug in and see if the compressor works
If the compressor does not run then I would suggest purchasing a new unit. As most
HVAC outfits will not service window units as they are not cost effective.
If you have any
further questions please do not hesitate to post to this thread and I will be happy to answer them. Thank you for choosing
