Belt broke and i need to change it
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Belts are not expensive- sorry I do not know how much yours would cost- and are easy to be changed by a competent person:-
REMOVE POWER FROM THE MACHINE AND REMOVE THE BACK.
The motor support bolts should be loosened and the old belt removed. Often putting the new belt on is a bit of a struggle, even with the motor 'loose', because it is new and smaller!
Once on it should be tensioned by pulling the motor against the belt firmly- but not over tight- and the motor support bolts tightened.
ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD ANY FORM OF LEVERAGE BE USED TO TENSION THE BELT. THAT COULD LEAD TO DAMAGE TO THE BELT, MOTOR AND BEARINGS- EXPENSIVE!
If the problem turns out to be the motor, it is false economy to just have the brushes changed. Experience of others is that the brushes may only last months unless, that is, the motor is totally refurbished.
Hope this is your problem solved.
Good luck,
John C
Washer has stopped and won't move on to rinse
Its the lid switch that is defective..located under the top panel portion of the machine and engages the lid when it shuts as a safety device....unplug and try to locacte it yourself.
The machine goes through the wash cycle and then
As per the problem which you have mentioned, that the machine fills with water but it will not spin or drain but it agitates fine.As it agitates fine so the motor is fine. But this is the indication of transmission ,its not functioning the transmission is getting stuck up.But if the transmission is functioning properly then this problem is related to blocked drain pump line. There is something stuck-up in the drain pump. That is blocking the water to get drained and this is not letting the spin cycle to start.Remove the drain pump and check the hose to which the drain pump is connected.there will be some cloth or coins or any thing causing this or a debris collected in the drain pump, drain hose area.
Or the transmission is the issue. If both checked ok and all is well then this issue is related to broken clutch that is causing the problem.

Machine operates fine until the
It is most likely the lid switch is bad. Look for a hole in top
where lid closes. Put your hand under switch and hold up the switch.
Push down on the lever through hold with pen or small screwdriver. Make
sure timer is set to spin and on. Switch splits and than will not spin/ If
that works you will need to replace switch.
If the problem you are having is that your Whirlpool top load washer won't spin dry the
clothes, follow this procedure to determine if the problem is a broken
motor coupler.
Set the washer on the regular cycle, large load and
let it fill. After the washer fills to the selected level, the motor
should start and the agitator should start agitating.
If you hear
the motor running, but the agitator doesn't move at all, do the
following. Stop the washer and set the timer on the spin cycle and let it run.
If
the washer
motor runs and the washer empties the water from the tank, but it won't spin, that
is an indication that the motor coupler is not turning the transmission
at all.
The motor coupler is made of two pieces of plastic called
fingers and a hard rubber piece that goes in between the two fingers.
One of the fingers is attached to the motor and the other finger is
attached to the transmission. The had rubber round piece goes between
the two fingers. When one of the plastic fingers breaks, the motor is no
longer coupled to the transmission and the washer will not agitate or spin dry
the clothes. The reason that the motor coupler breaks before it should,
it is that the user overloads the washer.People stuff the washer
with too much clothes, big comforters, small placer rugs, snickers, etc.
Another
reason is that the washer is used every day; normally the washer is used 3 times
a week. So if you have a washer that is 5 years old and you use it every
day, it has the wear and tear of a washer that is 10 years old.
Replacing
the motor coupler is not hard to do, once you see how the repair is
done. You will save at least $100 by replacing the motor coupler
yourself.
I hope this this information has been of help to you in
determining if the motor coupler is the problem when your Whirlpool
top load washer
is not spinning the clothes dry.
Lid not turning washer on
Sounds like a lid switch problem most likely. When closing the lid, slowly lower it and listen/feel for a "click" when the lid is about 3 inches from being completely closed. If you don't, then you have a broken lid switch.
The model of washer you listed, TAWS800JQ, has two different possible lid switches and you get to them differently.
To get to the lid switch, you need to remove 2 screws that hold the control console in place. There is 1 on the left and 1 on the right of the console. They can either be on the front side and easy to see, or on the back side. Loosen those screws so that the console is free and you can flip it up and backwards out of your way.
One type of lid switch can be seen on the left side after you flip the control console up and back out of your way. There is just a little clip that holds it in place. The lid needs to be raised in order to remove the lid switch. Unplug the wiring harness and replace.
The other type, do this:
Then use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the brass spring clips on the left and right side of the washer that hold the front/sides/top on. Unplug the lid switch in the middle of the washer top and then you can remove the wrap-around cabinet. The lid switch is under the top and is held in place by clips and 2 screws.
Suspension plate
Hi,
The suspension plate should be loose and float between the frame and base. The pin you saw was a shipping pin, they usually are caught in a little plastic cup attached to the base but sometimes fall to the floor, this is normal too. The tub being loose is normal for the top, it is held down by the springs below the tub but nothing on top. By a loud noise, what kind of noise is it? If it is a very loud ratcheting noise when it slows down then the basket drive(spin tube) and block need to be replaced. If it is a growling noise then that is pump and may be normal if the basket is not spinning. If this is the case look very close for an article of clothing caught between the tub and basket.
How do i get the top off my washer
gently pry up the front seam of the washer- move it a ways from the wall. you may chip some porcelain, but they really don't want you to fix your own machine- check for a loose wire- there should only be 2. no loose wire? should be 2 screws take 'em out go to your local parts place, buy a new switch- replace the old one! shouldn't cost more than 10$ cheaper than a new washer! re-connect wires- doesn't matter which goes where. re-seat the top- wash away!!
UNPLUG WASHER BEFORE YOU TOUCH ANYTHING!!!
good luck!
How do I get the top off so I can access the dor
Most Whirlpool washers (Estate is one of their brands) open the same way. Insert the blade of a 3" wide putty knife in the seam between the top and the front near the left front corner and push and then repeat near the right front corner to release the clips then lift like the hood of a car.
