When I hook up my

Lets check the simple stuff first. Check the speaker calbes and make sure that they are both hooked up the same way. If you have colored cables, then make sure that both "red" (for example) wires are connected to the positive(+) terminal of the speakers. If you have one to + and one to -, you will get sound out but lose the bass. This is because the speakers will be out of phase. This is the most common cause of the loss of bass response.

If that does not resolve the problem, please check with headphones to confirm that the problem is with the amp and not the speakers. Update this with your results.

Thanks,
Dan

SW means sub woofer, not necessary means center speaker in all receivers. Instead of setting 5ch stereo, if you have 3 speakers. try to set "3channel" or "simulated". If you own more than 3 speakers, you may refer to the userĀ“s manual to correctly wire them to get the full sound.

First will the receiver still work and have all functionality without the remote, Such as if you use the controls on the unit?
Cause if the remote functions normally to change a tv or control a dvd player. Then the ir sensor on the receiver may be at fault. But if you can provide me with some more information on the unit. I can instruct you through just about anything on it. Thanks, Midwest-tek

What is your speaker complement? The center usually carries the dialog.

Are the receiver and its speaker systems set up per the manual? Make it so.

How is the TV-related (Cable) audio entering your receiver? It SHOULD be from the cable box, digitally if available, NOT the TV. You don't need a Low-Fi middleman handling your audio.

Firmware upgrade failure

Try this for the reset
First turn the unit off then
hold down the "Pure Direct" and the "Direct" buttons on the display at the same time. And while you are still holding them down turn the unit on with the power button on the display.
this should reset the microprocessor.

You will need to put all custom settings back in.

Let me know if this helps.

Front panel lighting is cutting out. A tap on the

The most common cause of this are poor connections at the display on the front panel board. Resoldering these connections should resolve the problem. While rare, it is possible that the connections at the voltage regulators on the main board are the soruce of hte problem. In any case, the repair is a labor only repair. Any shop that handles audio equipment should be able to repair this easily. I usually charge the minimum labor charge and check the entire board for any poor connections while it is open.

How do you connect power amp to av

I presume you want to use it to drive speakers from a source controlled by the Denon??? Probably the Front channels? We'll assume that's it...

Run RCA cables from the Pre Out jacks to the NAD's L and R inputs. If it has a volume control, set the NAD to its maximum volume (for consistency *), run through the setup for levels and you're done.

* If it doesn't have a volume control it's already set to max. That's normal for power amps. Your receiver / preamp controls the volume fed to them.

BTW: If you're thinking of using two sets of Front channel speakers simultaneously you'll have to choose a level on the NAD that will match up with the others in volume.

Speakers way too loud

You don't say how the Samsung routes out to the receiver. I assume you're using its RCA audio L and R jacks. Inability to adequately lower volume usually means you're NOT using a Line Level input, but maybe a speaker feed.

Your TV may have a setting for variable audio out, but even if you use the fixed setting you should be able to lower the playback volume to something comfortable with the receiver's volume knob. It does go down to completely OFF, right?

Denon AVR 3805 video problem

Some of these Denons do require a firmware upgrade, but it is a very complicated process and you use your computer to do it thru the RS-232 port if this model has one. I can check on Monday to see if there are any for this model. I work at a authorized Denon repair center and fix lots of Denon receivers including this model. I just can't remember the specific details of every model of receiver I work on.

The only end user procedure you can try is the reset. If you try this reset procedure please be aware that all the settings you have made will be cleared and the unit will go back to the factory settings. You will need to input all of your custom settings.

This is no guarantee that it will solve your problem, but it may be worth trying. Sometimes the microprocessor software gets corrupted for unknown reasons, and a reset will clear out that type of problem.

With the power off you need to press and hold the "Pure Direct" and the "Direct" buttons on the front of the receiver and keep holding them in at the same time, then you would turn the power on while still holding those two buttons in. Once the unit turns on and you see and hear it turn on you can let go of the two buttons you have been holding in. Your receiver should now be reset, go ahead and make sure you assign the proper video inputs to the source you are using for the TV. Your owners manual should explain this. If you need help with it let me know and Monday I can look it up.

If this does not help you probably have a problem on the video input board, it has several IC's for switching and a buffer IC as well. It is controlled by the main system microprocessor also. The actual problem could be any one of those or even a bad voltage regualtor or transistor. It is not anything that the end user can repair unless they have experience in electronic trouble shooting. it also requires the proper equipment to troubleshoot with.

If you have found this information to be valid and useful, a "FixYa" ratings would be appreciated. That is the only reward I get for the help I offer here.

Thanks,

Dave

No sound from the TV input. Other inputs work

It could be a lot of things causing this. First check the simple things first. Check the cables from your satellite or cable box first.Check to see if that you are on the TV input on the receiver. Make sure you are on zone 1. Check these things first and see if it helps.

I just purchased a . Samsung 50

No, you would be better off sending the video signal from your sources(satellite, digital cable,DVD,BluRay player, any digital HD source, etc.)directly to your Samsung TV, and then use the fiber optic output from the TV to transfer the audio signal to your Denon receiver, or another way is to send all video signal to your TV and send all audio signal to your Denon receiver seperately, keep in mind that there really isn't a good reason to send video into a Denon receiver, that processes sound not picture! Good Luck !

How do i connect the xbox to the receiver using hd

which ever connection you have available. I think the 3805 has 3 component video inputs. If any of them are available use that input and tune the receiver to that input when you want to use the XBOX. You can even relabel it XBOX if you want in the menu but remember when using the remote it will still be VCR or whatever input you plugged it in as or reassigned it as. Remember renaming the input and reassigning it are 2 different things.
Also remember to assign the audio (digital or analog) to the same input as the component video.
If I helped please comment.
