Denon AVR-3805 Receiver - Page 5 Questions & Answers
No DVD sound from the AVR-3805 through the
This is the normal operation of the receiver while playing a DVD disc. In this case, try changing the sound field on the receiver to get surround sound from the receiver while playing a DVD disc.
You may set the sound field to Pro Logic or Pro Logic 2 or any A.F.D sound field.
good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How to connect a power amplifier
To achieve this, your AV receiver needs to have a pair of RCA/phono sockets labelled PRE-OUT. This output is the same as is normally fed to the receiver's own integral power amp, so the audio signl at this output is affected by input selection, volume and tone controls. Some receivers even have metal U-shaped links on the rear panel which connect between their PRE-OUT and MAIN-IN or POWER-IN sockets, so removing these links both makes the PRE-OUT available to connect to your separate amp, and disconnects the reveiver's internal amp, so you don't end up feeding signal to both power amps. I have seen Technics and NAD receivers and amps with this feature.
Don't connect your power amp to the REC-OUT or TAPE-OUT sockets of the receiver, as this output is not affected by the receiver's volume and tone controls, so you won't be able to adjust the sound using the receiver's controls.

I have a Denon AVR-488..Can you help?
Denon has released a Technical Service Bulitin about this problem. To fix it, an authorized service center will solder a jumper wire to bypass a connector, which has been shown to fail. It has nothing to do with the settings, or setup of this unit as described in Solution #1. It has to do with faulty parts within the unit. Just call Denon for an authorized service center and it is a quick fix. I have a AVR-488 that had the same problem and was fixed with the help of this bulliten and fix. No problems since.
Denon RC 969 Remote .Not Lighting up anymore ?.
These remotes are known to be weak, Denon is aware of the problem, here in the Netherlands they've sold out. Spare part no longer available. Try an older remote to an Denon AVR. these will work for say, 98% and are more reliable.
How to Connect HDMI Components with AVR 3805 as Hub
In reference to the comment you added to our chat session:
Just connect your receiver to your TV using the same cable your receiver is currently using to connect to your TV, be it Composite, S-Video, or Component. Just switch your TV to that input when you need to set-up something on the receiver.
Losing signal from the receiver
its the power ic of the receiver which is faulty and that needs replacement.as this ic is got weak and sending the weak signal to the tv as the power ic is gone weak.it is located on the internal circuit board of the receiver as its number is
IC380IS this has to be checked and replaced.if you arte not familiar with replacing this ic get it done at local repair center.as it needs checking with multi meter and soldering of ic later/the cost will be negligible and its worth getting it fixed.you will not be charged more then 10$ for the repair.as the cost of ic is near to $2.the other charges will be service charges.
give it a try.
thank you for using fixya.
please do rate the solution .
I have this DENON AVR4800, and there is no osd.
You need to use the monitor output on the denon and go to a video input on your tv, be sure the tv is set to the video input you plugged into on the tv input, then take the denon remote and hit the setup button, should show a on-screen setup
Denon AVR-3805 zone 2 no longer working
time to reset the microprocessor. See page 87 in manual.
1) switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation (small power button)
2) hold the PURE DIRECT button and DIRECT button at same time and turn the main unit's power operation on.
3) wait for entire display to flash in 1 second intervals
now the speakers need to be set up again but zone 2 will be working. i suspect a power surge causes the microprocesser to be corrupted. i put a power surge protector and have not had problems (lately).
No video
The Denon does not down scale you can not plug a DVD or other device in to the Denon using HDMI and have it come out Component, if your projector only has Component video inputs you must use Component video connections from the DVD and Cable box to the Denon
No surround sound from my Denon 3805
well as long as all signals are routed through the Denon your on the right track, now what else you have to do is connect all devices to the reciever do not loop one device through another. Also you have to try the different surround fields to hear the one you like the best for music I use 5Ch stereo for movies the surround field varies based on the type of movie
Denon AVF988 to power amp to whole house speakers
jbell302, Check both remote spkers for operation from the A spks output if good, switch B remote spks to A main connect & main A spks to the B remote connection on the Denon spks outputs . Most amp sources do not like different ohm spks types & different cable or spks A-B. lenghts, because this makes up to resistances problems, making the amp to work harder & understanding what is going on. THE AMPS PROTECTION CIRCUIT IS AT ALERT & TRIES TO BALANCE THE RESISTANCE VOLUME. Best move is to try use the same spks. lenght & a higher qauge wire; 12.14.18qa. to better balance the output volume! All matching spks. pairs would help alot as well!
