Had the same problem. It's ainternal flex wire connecting LCD with camcorder. Got from the repair shop did it by miself and it's like knew. It's very common in sony. Good luck

i didn't hear about a place where you can get the whole deck but even if you find it you will need some tools and jigs to adjust it. it does not work right without proper adjustments.

try connecting the camcorder to a pc using the cable, sometimes a pc can fix the drive. or you will need to do a factory reset. press in the rest button next to the lcd screen for 3 seconds.

It could be the bad HDD, look for hdd's for ipod and replace it, they are compatible.
