Programs to MMC?

Can you access the MMC from the desktop ? If yes - you could copy the installation cab files to the MMC card externally & then simply run the file on the MMC for the application to install. There have been some issues with the pcb design of the EM-500 cradle & Casio has updated the design with some aditional componets which should sort out your connectivity problems. Hope this helps.

Connecting to a Linux machine

Have you ever heard of wine? You can install wine for free and see if the program that allows you to interface the device to a PC will work. There also could be some linux programs that will allow you to connect your pocket PC to your PC.

EM 500 RIBON CABLE TORE how to replace?? HELP!!

It might be possible to repair the tear. You'd need to bond a plastic backing to the back of the ribbon to support it. Clean off the front layer to expose the torn conductor ends then paint a thin strip of conductive epoxy or car heater matrix repair along each of the flat wires. Finish off by covering (when set) with scotch tape. Everything needs to be completely squeaky clean (use alcohol) before you start.

Overclocking em-500

1) Back up your device since we will be removing both batteries from your PocketPC. 2)Remove all 5 screws (4 in the back and one underneath the rubbery grip sticker on the side). NOTE: Be very careful with the sticker on the side. I just pried it up with my finger nail to get it started, but the adhesive part split off from the rubbery grip. I then had to pry up the adhesive part from the side of my EM-500. I got them back together in the end, so no harm done - just something to look out for.

Casio em-500 deleting mail programs!!!

I believe they are in unit's ROM, which is non-reprogrammable. Hence, you won't be able to delete anything from there. On the positive side, they don't occupy your main memory, so there's really no harm in letting them dwell in your PDA. :)

Cassiopia EM500 sync issue

First of all ensure that the port selected on the EM-500 for PC connection is the same as your actusl connection - i.e. USB or serial. There were some problems with the EM-500 cradle which would not allow communication to be established between the PDA & the PC/Laptop. Contact Casio for rectification. It is done free of charge.

Can't delete a program EM-500

If all else fails... Just do a hard reset...you know, hold down the power button and pust the reset button in the hole on the back side of the casio....of course you will loose everything you've installed and will have to reinstall, but sometimes that seems to be the simlest way.

Backing up contacts list

First thing you must religiously avoid is backup option in ActiveSynch. It takes forever. You have 2 options. Casio provides a built in card backup utility which is very efficient & reliable for full backup. There is a utility called TuBu which will allow you to selectively backup your data on the memory card. This however is not a free utility but very useful. You can download the trial version.

EM-500 memory question (new user)

You can use any brand whatsoever. If you are concerned about compatibility - a genuine problem with some manufacturers - you might consider buying from a retail outlet & test it out on the device itself. Casio uses either Toshiba or Hitachi cards so that would be your best bet.

Targus keyboard installation

The problem is most likely with the driver being for an older MIPS processor (like the one in the Casio E-100). Where did you obtain this keyboard. Targus did not really support the EM500 when the keyboard came out. Now, they don't at all. Email Targus www.targus.com or Stowaway www.thinkoutside.com for a new driver.

MMC/SD Cards

In most cases they are interchangeable except for the security feature which you don't need for storage on your EM-500. SD cards are faster in read write department as also they cost more due to security featurtes built in. In Casio cameras Casio recommends SD cards but I have been using MMC cards very successfully.
