I replaced my old computer with a new one that has Windows Vista and when I tried to re-install my Dell 922 AIO the scanner doesn't work. I have re-installed the driver and utilities disk and downloaded the latest driver and it still won't work.
Is there an incompatibility problem with Windows Vista? Is there a way to get around this or some kind of patch / update that will fix it.
We are non-profit and don't have the funds to purchase a new scanner at this time.

For windows Vista; it is imperative to run the Vista patch which can be found on the Dell website (Downloads and drivers).
Make sure that you run the patch, after removing the printer USB cable from the computer. Restart the computer as the patch suggests and then install the Vista specific drivers, which also need to be downloaded from Dell Website.
Again, do not connect the printer unless the installation software asks you to.
For scanner issues, those who are unable to get anything scanned to their computer, and are able to print, it is essentialy a Firewall/Anti-virus issue. You can check that out by trying to scan using an application such as MSPaint (Start> type 'mspaint' > hit enter).

Hi, I've been given this printer but the driver soft ware does not work on my mac. Is this solvable? Thanks. Alice.

There "may" be one possible solution, which people have had success at.
The Dell 922 printer is the same as a Lexmark X5270
Lexmark has Mac OS X drivers for their version of it.
If you have Mac OS X, the driver can be obtained here:

I installed a remanufactured color cartridge and now my prints are all in magenta. The realignment page is not black and blue, but magenta and black and misses most of its print. Never had a problem with cartridges ordered directly from DELL, tried to save money and pay "only" $26.00 instead of over $30.00 plus shipping, now I'm at the end of my ropes.... I have removed the sticker and tape, took both, black and color cartridges out and back in, restarted computer, wasted tons of ink and paper in cleaning and realigning, still only printing in pretty pink... that's it! Anybody know what to do??? Please help, before I throw that printer out the window!!!! Eva :O

ALL 3 COLORS RECIPE:
Fill coffee mug ¼ full of water. Heat in microwave for 1 min 30 seconds. Remove coffee mug from microwave. Put tip (head) of cartridge in coffee mug for 15 minutes. Take cartridge out of coffee mug and hold tip (head) under hottest faucet water for a few minutes. Dab (do not WIPE) on a paper towel to see if all 3 colors are present. If they are - allow cartridge to dry for 30 minutes then put back in printer. If all 3 colors are not present - repeat process. Good Luck! It works GREAT for my DeskJet 840c - EVERYTIME!

I cannot find a place in the print properties to print with black ink only. I don't want to print in black from the color cartridge, I want to use the black cartridge only. My other problem is that it was showing the black cartridge as being full and the color as being low. But the black would not print and only the color would print. I changed to a new black cartridge and it now prints black fine, but give me a warning that my black cartridge is now below the minimum necessary. Should I ignore the warning or will it shut down and not print.

It is a little known fact that ink cartridges do have an expiry date, and it is sometimes possible that even if a printer reads full, that it has dried out and will not print. When you recieve a warning that your ink is too low you will simply be unable to print black ink after a certain point. Generaly if you want to print in only black you will have to do that when you print a document. For instance in IE when you go to file and then print you can select prefrences and select print in greyscale or black. hope this helps!

I cannot locate the All in One Center under Programs/Dell Printers. All that is there is the Order Ink, the Solution Center and the Users Guide. I can print but cannot scan.
I downloaded a new driver and have rebooted, etc. I have Windows XP.

download R151371 from e.g. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R151371&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A922&servicetag=&os=WLH&osl=en&deviceid=6785&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=40&fileid=201464
Unzip it then find the folder containing it. Doubleclick on the "setup"
file... don't give it up yet...Inside the folder Apps you'll find
another "setup" file, doubleclick on it as well...That will install for
you the "All-In-One Center"...
It worked for me...(but I was wandering why couldn't they make it more user-friendly?)

My printer has never had a problem....
But today it started prinitng over my documents a horizontal black lines about a 1/4" in diameter.

Restart the printer and the computer.
This might be a problem because your data cable is not fully inserted into the computer/ and or the printer.
Make sure that it is connected fully.

I recently changed the black ink and now it does print anything
Try this 1.Disconnect power to printer 2. Force the cartridges to the left and then to the right 3. Clean at the transparent strip behind the cartrigde holder (Encoder strip) Be careful not to pull on the strip Hope this helps.....

The warning light blinks red by the power button. says "Right Cartridge incorrect. I went to HELP with my printer, and the cartridges; it says "facing the printer, place the color cartridge in the left space, and the black cartridge in the right space, ....ok, but the cartridge holders are color coordinated with the colors on the ink cartridges. So, I switch them around, and they do not fit (color in left holder, and blk in right holder). WHAT NOW? It acts like it's printing, and goes through the motions, but nothing is there, blank paper.

Remove the right ink cartridge (color). You will get an error saying the cartridge is empty, but ignore that. Hit cancel on your printer. Print your job...when your print screen comes up, under preferences check the box for print colors in black and white. Your printer should print just fine without the color cartridge. Ignore the flashing red light.

When I try to print, the computer and printer operate as they always have, but the page comes through blank. The message I get is "Right hand cartridge incorrect." The right hand cartridge is the color cartridge is the color cartridge and it is still at least half full. It is not just that it doesn't print in color, it doesn't print anything at all.

I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND A SOLUTION

When I turn on my Dell 922 printer the ink carridge jumps back and forth once violently then I get an error 1200, remove obstruction, cycle power. I tried this and still does same thing. I took new ink cartridges out and put back in--still same thing. Any idea? It is out of warranty and I don't want to spend $39 for an answer--I'll just buy a new printer--maybe HP this time because buying ink online with DELL is a pain in the bootie.
I get error 1200 and print carrier stall. The carrier moves fine when I turn it on, in fact it slams to the right! Will not print at all!
