Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens Questions & Answers
Canon 50 mm 1.8 communication error 01 lens
Might be that the aperture is stuck and you need to get the lens repaired (might cost more than a new lens.) Or it might just be bad contacts. Clean the contacts and try another lens before asking Canon or dismantling the lens.
My lens fell down and I think is not broken but
Get a quote first for the repair as this lens is the least expensive Canon lens and it could be that the combined cost of postage and repair will exceed to cost of a brand new replacement.
How to fix err 01
you have a faulty connection between the lens and body of the camera
- remove the lens clean contacts on lens and the body of the camera
- remount the lens
- if you still encounter the error turn off the auto focus switch .
- take a test shot (manual focus)
- if you did not encounter the error your lens might have a faulty flex cable have it checked / replaced at the service center
Hi there,
I don't know if
You may just have the left auto focus points selected. You don't say which camera model you have. If on the back of your camera you can see a button with an icon showing 5 small white blocks in a plus sign in a white box press this to select the auto focus points. It should show the available auto focus points and then use the left/right (wheel) button to change the selection
How do you remove the macro lens
The 50mm f1.8 lens is not a macro lens. If you attached a close up filter, it should just screw off. Try not to squeeze the ring too tight as that may make it harder to remove. Also "righty tighty - lefty loosey"
I cannot get my new
Make sure you're holding down the lens release button, which is located on the front of the camera, while turning the lens. Sometimes a little bit of force is needed, I've found new lens' can stick a little bit. If it still won't come off, contact Canon.
Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens is not focusing.
I had the same problem with my ef 50mm 1.8. I used it on a cold day and broke off one of the internal gears. I used it for almost a year before I got the guts to take it apart and fix it. There are instructions online on how to take it apart, scary at first but not that hard overall. I used a small drop of crazy glue on the gear, put it all back together and just like new.
Can i strip and clean the inside of my Cannon EF
You can. But do you have a lens collimator and other equipment needed to ensure proper alignment when you put it back together again? Without such gear, the resulting pictures will probably be worse than they are now.
