For support stuff just click on the support link and chose the picture again. That will get you to the same pages as the first links. The software should detect when the camera is plugged into the usb. I do have one canon that refuses the play nice and won't do this so I just use a card reader to transfer the pictures right off of the cards.On the same page is contact information for support don't be afraid to call them and ask them anything.

Did you check in your manual if there is a function to "write protect" your camera against accidental operation? Mine doesn't have this option but some other device MIGHT have it.
