Sony CDP-C305 5-Disc CD Changer Questions & Answers
Open/close button does not open
Hi,
This is 5 disc cd player mechanism and bit complicated. I can provide you service manual copy of CDP-C305 if that helps.
Rest is your own skills/ expertise and in my opinion, loading belt should be checked for that problem.
Thanks.
Loading a CD
First you do is to unplug the cord of your CD unit for 5 hours in order to drain the stored current, the purpose is to reset the unit. After the 5 hours plug the CD see to it if it open If not, just try to press down on the stop button and pressing eject button at same time and it will unlock the tray .Then the other option is to open the cover of the CD unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electricshock . When open already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the CD player and you will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc platter. When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly. If you do already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn’t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There’s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also.
Hope it may help you;

The Machine only plays when it wants to
TRY CLEANING THE LENS WITH A CD CLEANER OR do it manully with a bit of Vodka and a cotton bud carefully clean the lens in a circle motion then carefully dry the lens with the other end of the cotton bud
put it all back together and see if that works
Player will not recognize that there is a cd in it.
Yeppers. the first thing to do would be to use a lens cleaning disc to see if that will help. if not take the top off the unit and clean the lens manually with a damped cotton swab and slowly with little pressure move the cotton swab in a circular motion then turen around to the dry side of the swab and do the same as before and try thge unit. if that doesnt work, then the laser, tracking/focus offsets/gains could need alighnment or the slider is not working or the spindle motor circuit is not working. Im afrad these repairs would not be for the untrained peron, as you need special test equipment to troubleshoot these problems and also may not be worth taking into a repair shop. Good Luck

The display does not work on my Sony CDP-CE375 CD Player.
troubleshoot the issue:
Reset the CD Changer:
Turn off the CD player.
Press the CLEAR button.
Simultaneously, press and hold down the POWER button on the CD player for 60 seconds.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, proceed to the next step.
Check for Error Messages:
If you encounter difficulty playing a disc and receive any of the following error messages, there may be an incorrect setting or a problem with the disc:
NO DISC
DISC ERROR
CD ERROR
TOC ERROR
Refer to the instructions supplied with your CD player to verify model-specific information and troubleshoot the issue.
Internal Component Repair:
If the display issue persists, it might be related to an internal component that requires repair.
My Sony model # MHC-V11 MAKES NO SOUND everything seems to operate but i cant get no sound from it
Troubleshoot this issue. Here are some steps you can follow:
Check Speaker Connections:
Ensure that the rear surround speakers are properly connected to the Audio/Video (A/V) receiver.
If applicable to your model, verify that the A/B speaker selector is set correctly. If the speakers are connected to the A speaker connection, the selector must be set to the A position.
Test Tone Operation:
Perform a test tone operation to check if the speakers are functioning correctly.
Increase the rear speaker volume or adjust the surround speaker settings to the maximum level.
Speaker Size Settings:
Try selecting a different size (small or large) for the rear surround speakers in the menu.
Surround Sound Mode:
Verify that the A/V receiver is set to a surround sound mode.
For Dolby ProLogic surround sound, ensure that the center-channel mode is set to NORMAL or WIDE.
If your source is a DVD or Blu-ray Disc player, check that surround sound is enabled in the player's menu.
The audio being received must be multi-channel.
Different Surround Sound Mode:
Try setting the A/V receiver to a different surround sound mode.
Source Content:
Verify that the source you are playing is encoded in surround sound.
Note that during periods of mainly dialog, most of the sound may come from the center speaker only, with audio coming out of the rear speakers when there is background or ambient noise.
Factory Reset:
Reset the unit back to factory default settings (consult your operating instructions for model-specific steps).
If applicable, follow the steps for calibrating the appropriate settings automatically after connecting the calibration microphone device.
Speaker Wires and Replacement:
Check and replace the speaker wires if necessary.
Consider connecting a different pair of speakers to see if the issue persists.
If you've tried these steps and the problem remains unresolved, I recommend seeking professional service.
