Will not turn on
Hey I am willing to buy the broken receiver if you are interested? Please contact me and I will negotiate something with you.
Is the sony DAV FC8
Apparently not.
Examination of any hit after a web search for "DAV FC8 features" answers it in the negative.
It has NO digital interfaces.
I have a Sony DAV-FC8
First of all its not as easy as you think to clean the optical lens in some of the Sony systems because they have put a dust cover over the whole DVD mechanism ( unlike older systems where you could access the lens just by removing the top metal cover ).
You will have to remove the top metal cover , then remove the plastic dust cover . Using a cotton ear bud gently clean the lens ( looks like a fish eye ). Put everything back in the reverse order and try. If it still does not work you will have to replace the whole unit itself.
Not playind dvd
Hi,
Try to play a different DVD and check because if it can play cd's then it should play DVD too. Make sure that the DVD is not scratched.
Good Luck!
Disc's stuck
If you have tried unplugging the unit and still does not work. There is a update that needs to be done to your unit to keep from locking up the unit. Whats happening is that the pull up circuit is too slow which is whats locking up your unit . by adding a resistor and lifting a pin on the mirco to solder the other end of the resistor two it will take care of this problem..once this is done it takes care of all lock up problems. If you can work with microprocessors and do real fine soldering i can email you the fix. If you can have a service company take care of this for you as it is a really delicate repair.
Unit will not power on
If dust has built up in any of the cooling fans the system will detect that the fan is not turning and will not power up...The fans have an internal switch that tells the system not to boot ...blow out your fans and try again..the same thing happened to my plasma wouldn't boot..blew out fans and it was fine after that
DVD Does not work when using HDMI from Philips TV to Bravia
You could see if they will exchange just the unit and save both of you the hastle of checking and repackingit all. It does sound like the unit is faulty.
Or if your Bravia has more than one HDMI input then try on another, or a friends tv if you know some one with a HDMI tv in working order.
Pretty colors
Sounds like the other DVD player went bonkers. Try unplugging power on the DVD player you were playing the game on for 5 minutes, then plug it back in.
