Battery charging
before we assume that it could be the camera! ever tried using other chargers? check the specifications (output voltage and current) of your charger! try comparing it to your Dad's charger! if they match, it would be safe for you to use it on yours! try cleaning also your camera's charger input plug!
Fuji Finepix F410 compact loss of images
I have a blue LED problem too....One day the F401 was in its cradle with lights working all right. Next day they were not working. I tried removing and replacing the battery, I also borrowed a cradle, usb cable and mains adapter - but still no LEDS. However, the images upload to the PC as usual, the self timer works, the camera continues to take perfectly good pictures and, as far as I know, the battery is being charged. Any advice/comment will be appreciated if it helps to overcome this problem.
Incidentally, this latest malfunction is a bit annoying since the camera has already had a major CCD fault. I appreciate that digital cameras rely on microelectronics, but it does seem a bit 'throw-away' when you are told by the Fuji technical people that the cost of a possible repair is more than the current worth of the camera.
I have two conventional SLR (Konica TC Autoreflex and a Nikon 601S) both of whcih are working perfectly despite being 27 and 9 years old respectively. So much for progress, eh?!
Fuji Finepix F401 - cannot switch to playback mode
There are no remedial suggestions I am sorry to say.
These devices are made in such a way that a 'repair' would not be possible only replacement if under warranty- which this one longer is.
4 years is a good life and technology has moved on now so much that a new camera is going to be the only option.

The lens on your camera has become stuck due to being dropped, contamination such as sand, or a malfunction within the lens. If gently manipulating the lens itself does not free it then you will need to get it professionally repaired or replace the camera.

Picture colour problem
Hi,
apparently there appears to have been an issue with a Sony Component in the F401, see the following URLs for more information:

I am in Europe and experiencing the same issue with images coming out black and white and blurred. Hope to find some local support.
Take care,

Focus error finepix hs10
About the HS10 autofocus problem, I discovered the cause and solution. It is a problem of camera design, and is caused by three screws securing the CCD sensor. These screws are not properly secured and the vibration eventually dropping.
In two cameras with the same defect, the screws were loose. These screws adjust the sensor position relative to the lens and the sensor is loose when out of position not allowing proper focus.
The solution is to disassemble the camera and secure the screws.
These screws can not be too tight they need to be adjusted to position the CCD sensor correctly. The camera is difficult to dismantle because several wires are soldered.
Care must be taken to discharge the capacitor of the flash, this may cause an electric shock and burn the camera board.
Those who want to try the repair, follow the link to the service manual.

I have a FinePix S1 and the display screen is not working. All other modes are working but no display
Many occasions LCD on camera display never fails but back light fails unless physical damage to LCD screen. Hold a torch to display when camera is on you will see faint(black and white) image means LCD is ok but back light is failed, it's replaceable but needs little skill to replace. Or replace full Screen with backlight. This is easy. Just remove back cover, remove display by loosening flex lock, put back new display carefully lock it holding flex with one finger. Please do not touch display flex contacts.
