The Motherboard fan should take the power from board only, if you need the extra casing fan then you should connect with SMPS (power supply) through the connector or buy the fan which have to connect with SMPS power connector. It may be that not all of the supply voltages are working. If you have access to a voltmeter, you can make sure that +12v, +5v , etc are all working. If not, it means a new power supply. Not expensive, just make sure it it at least the same wattage as the current one (more is fine)

Hi Normally for Pcs and laptops the booting devices can be found in the CMOS/BIOS settings, when you start up the pc/laptop you normally press esc f1 f2 etc, this allows the user to enter into the CMOS/BIOS setting. Under the Boot tab you will see all the devices you boot from they will be enable/on or disabled/off check them to see which devices are on and off. The last tab has a load default option if you select it and exit and save these changes it will automatically enable all the default devices in order. Hi I have experienced this issue at different times and how i have over come this issue was to reboot my laptop and then re-plug my iphone back in via usb to the laptop and i found the windows software was able to detect the new pics . I think this may be because of a software clinch ram or cache issue not refreshing the page so it doesn't pick up the new pics only the previous ones in the memory. Rebooting resets it. Cheers

hi not every motherboard or on board video is compatible with windows 8 what windows was it running previously windows 8 was designed for 64 bit platforms which requires 4 gig of ram but you have to also take into account the other hardware components and there maximum configuration i have run win 8 on 2 gig of ram but it struggles with you tube downloads i upgraded the ram to 4 gig and run win xp win 7 and win 8.1 on the hard drive cheers

Here are some suggestions: First of all . Do you have an anti virus installed on your husband's machine ? Viruses can slow the machine and even kill it permanently ( so be careful) . Just install an anti virus and you'll solve the problem .
