Hi,Everyone mentioned some password recovery software, I too recommend you to use Stellar Phoenix password recovery software (http://www.stellarinfo.com/password-recovery.htm) . but I will advice you to first use manual methods of password recovery such as use windows installation disk or use "Offline NT Password and Registry Editor" to reset lost password.
The Emachines were running the Phoenix BIOS. 4 Beeps in Phoenix could indicate a RAM issue. It can be a simpe issue of the RAM chip came loose, and should just be re-seated. Turn your machine upside down, and locate the MEMORY cover. These can usually be removed using a small star /phillips screwdriver. Once opened remove
the memory module by gently pressing outward on the retaining clips on both
sides of the memory module until the memory module is released and tilts
upward. Then, pull the module out of the slot.
To insert
it again, hold the memory module at a 45-degree angle and insert it into the
now empty memory slot. Gently press down on the module until the retaining
clips click into placeor the RAM has been corrupted and you should replaced the RAM chip- it used DDR SDRAM 333MHz
One thing to check is to see if the WORPGROUP name is the same.
On your laptop, Right Click on My Computer and go to properties.
Click the Computer Name Tab and compare it with your Dells.
If it's the same then you might want to directly connect your laptop to the router and see if it can recognize it that way.
If all else fails, you can reset the router.
what can I say ...why should you send it to India???just cause one of the factory is there ?? look for a repair shop in the area..and just order the parts on eBay or on the factory site ...cause if you send it ...on your cost ..it means that it is out of warranty anyway ..and on the cost you should buy another ...so just look for a computer repair shop around your area..or better ask for someone that know how to do it among your friends ..cause I think service in US is kinda expensive ...and if the hinge is the problem (I mean a mechanical one..not a contact when you flip it ) this is not that hard to change ...there are just 4 screws for both of them ..and have to remove the cover first like in this movie... (all you need is some that fits..or from at least a similar model ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyafN8BGS3U&feature=related I know is not teh same model but the idea is to remove a few things to get to them and the most important is the cover that removes from the back of the screen up to the keyboard..and it is just cliped in plase for most models... about Linux of windows 7....I will go for windows xp ..it has the most reliable system so far ....of course the 7 looks better and stuff but its hard to get drivers for elder devices...and always has issues cause its too new... Linux....you have to understand it cause its a different concept to handle...if you just want to have it on but not to understand how it works...it is rather safest and fastest of them all..and if you get your hand of one simple to use like the one that came with the asus eee 7 ...its a choice to keep in mind...cause its a system built on linux but operates simple like a phone menu ..with desktop fast access..

She may have spilt something on it. Accidental damage you could get it replaced under warranty as you get a years manufacturers warranty with the machine
it sounds like an overheating problem there is a sensor that detect heat to stop from damaging the computer check to see if the fan is running and that its not clogged with dust.also you can try a laptop cooling pad this may help. but make sure the fan in the computer is running and uo to speed you may need a new cooling fan.if it keeps shutting down you may need to have the processor temp checked.with a infared heat sensening gun.
Sounds like the pc is set to a low pixel setting, try going to properties and adjust display settings.
ie. Right click on desktop image, click on Properties. WIndow will pop up, click on SETTINGS tab and adjust Screen Resolutions and/or Color Quality. That should make the change. Sometimes programs installed changes those settings. Good Luck!
that seem unreasonable for that machine, have contacted the manufacture about that problem or brought that to there attenition, that maybe very important to there engineers or final test people.
the are thing is looking for a switch that is government ceritified, it has to need certain standards before it can be used on any aircraft so look into a switch that has a curciut braker biult in the switch and every time it wants to burn up the curciut will trip and save the switch from being broken, if later you want to know more about that type of switch you may email me at [email protected]
ps the switch as all different type of surge protection built into it, you maybe go to airport and talk to avaion repair techs and ask about one the they cannot put back into aircraft and buyit or airplane junk yard, small airport machinic, avonics shop, now the switch will not be cheap but you will never have to buy a new switch every 2 months.
There will be a brightness switch it will be a combination of the fn key and a key with a sun symbol and an up arrow on it (usually the up cursor key) if that doesn't work i'm afraid that your backlight or inverter has died, you can get replacement parts on ebay but if you havent done this sort of repair before it may be better to take it into a shop to do, unless you are still under warantee then the manufacturor has to repair/replace, its a good idea to get everything backed up off your Hard drive first.
double check that its the backlight by pluggin the laptop into an external monitor first as if it is a backlight issue it will display fine externally
