That is best discussed with the Philips support people as there could be a reset procedure. I have never heard of this but you may have caused the unit to enter a different mode by doing an overburn attempt.

It may need a better cleaning by a professional as well as some lubrication at points in the unit. This is a job for a Technician.

What does the lower surface look like? Does it have a lot of scratches or is it perfect? Many times the condition of the optical surface of the disc can affect the results you have. The disc is scratched can be polished. Burned disc only have about 70% of the output that a pressed disc has so sometimes you need to burn a new one.

Replace the Laser Pick UP Assembly, if you can find one.

What 'cable' allows live recoding? You need a mike, a mike preamp and from there probably any standard audio patch cords might work. It would depend on the other equipment.

make sure check your manul for the correct disc it could say digital audio,but look carefully on disc for scratches or dust clean lens and check disc for cd-rw or cd-r digital audio i had the 770 and have the same problem and i kept buying the wrong disc.

The message NO DISC may appear for several reasons:
1.No disc is loaded->Load a disc into the player, close the door and press PLAY
2.The disc may be defective->Try a different disc
3.The disc is placed improperly in the tray->Make sure the disc is properly placed and centered in the tray and if the disc has a label on one side, make sure the label is facing up
4.The disc is dirty->Use a soft cloth to clean the disc by wiping in a straight line from the center of the disc to the outside edge
5.If the player cannot read CDs/DVDs correctly, try using a commonly available cleaning CD/DVD to clean the lens before taking the device to service. Other cleaning methods may destroy the lens.
6.Using non supported discs may lead to playback problems or jamming in the slot loader or drive.
