The darker images have red dots in the lower 6 inch band of screen across the bottom. they are not always present, only with gray or darker images. Called Samsung and they're going to dispatch a local technician. Will see what happens..
Did you get this problem resoslved? I had the same issue a few months ago. I tech came by and took my TV to the shop, a few days later he said it was fixed as they needed to make some adjustments.....The TV has been fine up until a week or so ago and now the red dots have appeared again. Was wondering what happened to yours.

Dear Sir/Madam,
The Plasma TV started to show the following symptom about 2 weeks after the 1 year warranty expires :-< :-< :-<:
The bottom half of the screen is totally black.
I contacted Samsung support and they asked me to do reset:
1. Turn off the TV.
2. unplug the power cable.
3. push the power button 3 times.
4. wait 15 minutes.
5. plug back in the cable.
6. Turn on the TV.
That steps worked like a champ the 1st time I did it. But then after a few days, the symptom comes back, and the reset procedure no longer works.
I again called Samsung support and this time (knowing that reset procedure above doesn't work), they suggested me to get people to fix my TV with charges .....
Do you know any solution that I can do myself. I'm an hardware engineer (computer and electrical engineer) so I'm not intimidated to fix the TV if there is instructions ...
Thanks in advance ...
PS: "Tapping" on the side of the TV (left and right) does not seem to help. Unplugging the component cables does not help either.
I have a solution. My Samsung plasma had the same problem with the bottom half of the screen being black. Follow these directions and it will not cost you a dime, just some time. I took the back panel of the tv. I found the lower buffer board on the left hand side. I disconnect all the ribbon cables. Use an air cleaner to spray out any dust on the ribbon connection and the board. I connect the ribbons back to the board. My plasma is now as good as new. If you have issue with the top portion, do the same with the upper buffer board. I was going to buy a new tv but I'm glad I gave this a shot first. It's been almost a month and it's still working fine. Hope this helps and hope it saves you some money.

how do i adjust the v-scan voltage on a hp-r5052 smasung
If you adjust v-scan make sure you adjust it for the setting that is marked on the panel when you take the back off. Why do you want to adjust v-scan? are you noticing red pixels firing or green ones? This is a diffusion problem and i am familiar with the fix for that. Let me know and we can go from there. Also what is the version of the HP-R5052? Talk to you soon . Thank you Jay

whats wrong with my samsung tv with a high pitched sound
Hi, the high pitched sound is coming from the coils or transformers on the power supply.
you can isolate the noise by removing the back and with the set on press gently with a plastic handle/item on each coil till you stop the noise. , you will probably have to replace the coil or the whole power supply, but sometimes you can tilt it over or secure it with silicone and it will stop rimging.
please click a thumbs up it this helps solve your problem

I have a 50" Samsung Plasma model: HPT5054X/XAA version:AQ25 and it turns on and has sound but the screen is black. What could have caused this and how can I fix it?
It's a pretty common problem. The no picture but sound problem is usually the y sustain board. I've replaced 2 on mine now. The 680uf 35V capacitors usually are bulging because one of the power transistors went and took them out. This has happened to both of the y boards I had. One time the failing y board took out the buffer boards too, and once it did not. The fix is super simple and anyone with even the most rudimentary knowledge of computers or electronics can do the labor yourself. You should do the simple stuff first by just doing a quick test with a multimeter. Just check the power coming to the y board. After that you can just remove the y board by removing 3 cables and like 3 screws. Plug in the new board and it's done! You can source the parts from a place like shopjimmy or discount merchant. 3 boards were like 200 bucks. 1 board is like 100 bucks. Labor took me 15min. Think about that the next time an electronics repair place charges you 1000 dollars. Of course they check everything (Yeah right) and warranty their work (I don't) but if you check the service manual it states that this is the most common repair. Look for the Canadian manual online. Hope this helps!

Samsung PN50A550 Plasma TV started clicking on & off then quit. The blue lamp stays on and the red power light blinks with occasional loud clicking similar to normal power on-off sounds. We had a power bump the day before and the tv clicked on and off several times erratically for the first time ever. I've had it on a surge protector if that makes a difference? It seems to be stuck on until I unplug it, though there's no picture or sound-though the screen flickers light occasionally with the activity when plugged in. It's 13.5 months old-1.5 months PAST warranty!
hi i have replaced power controls boards in more than a few of these & this needs to b done by a expert .

Otherwise, we have never had any problems with it. It has always been moved upright, but it hasn't been moved for over a year.
