Inadvertently plugged in device to a 220 outlet verus a 110.

I'm not sure about this model but most have a "universal switcher" power supply inside that works up to 220 volts.
Also ( with NO power connected ) take the cover off and check for a glass fuse ( 20mm long) . See if that has blown . Radio Shack has plenty of fuses

You connect up a DVD to a TV via the Audio Visual leads, they go into the Red White, the Audio, & Yellow, the composite Video. In & Out. They wire color to color. Then you select AV on the TV. & press Play on DVD.

someone must have pressed something mistakenly.
Check the DVD remote and press PAL/NTSC. The color should appear.
Or you could also check the video wire at the back of the DVD and TV, maybe it has loosed contact.

check if muted on settings, try rock the earphone jack...for hardware problem, a two pcs transistor serves as switch for the mute was leaky need to replace,
