Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. https://homenol.blogspot.com/ https://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty. Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, [Exclude the model number] in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Red light blinking and no picture on Toshiba Model 65HX81 how do we fix?

Red power light blinking is shutdown--protective mode. Before buying a remote I would see what is wrong with set.The most common reason on this model is a short in the convergence circuit--uses two chips----method to see if they are shorted is to locate (not real easy on this model) and unsolder all 18 pins on each chip--if set turns on then(will look bad) one of the chips is gone and both need replacement. The other issue this set has is bad Hyper boards that cause noise when cold and operate after warmup---more expensive to fix than a convergence problem.3_30_2012_2_06_25_pm.jpgconvergence chips used in this set look like these

Toshiba 65" rear projection

This is a model that is prone (all of them over a two year period) to having noise lines left to right etc when cold. As time passes it takes longer and longer for the issue to clear up.The set uses a "Hyper Board" that processes all signal in the set from all inputs and it fails as over 10 surface mounted filter caps dry out and fail. The issue starts small and gradually gets worse--the caps (electrolytic caps) dry out and when hot regain some life again. The boards are no longer available from Toshiba and you have two choices----either have the caps individually replaced or send the board to PTS Electronics for rebuild--last one I saw they got over 200 for that but you can contact them to see.there was a service bulletin from Toshiba concerning this with a photo of the circuit board and the suspects circled in red--change all ten caps and put the plug in board back and you are good to go.I had two different people who with assistance from me on this site were able to do it themselves but for most it is not a do it yourself job--Regular caps are soldered thru the board (from the bottom) but these are tiny and soldered to the top of the board. The parts are not real expensive but should be upgraded to a better quality cap.FYI: I have seen over 2 dozen sets with this issue.for additional information etc press the "make a comment button" on this page.

My toshiba 65hx81 cut out lastnight. All I have

Frist Kyle count the number of blinks on the set when it shuts down, this is an error code related to the problem area., The most common failure in this model is the deflection power supply board. This board provides high voltage to the picture tubes and related large signal circuits. You may want to check the horizontal output transistor for shorted condition, if it is found to be shorted replace it an the flyback transformer as these two work to gether to produce the horizontal frequency to produce the high voltage.

I am changing the caps in my hyper module. i have

Do you have the service bulletin for this model from Toshiba? it shows all the caps--any cap can be used-original are surface mounted-but you can use traditional caps if you have enough room--also there is a company called PTS electronics who can rebuild the board for you---I HAVE THE SERVICE BULLETIN FROM TOSHIBA FOR THIS MODEL--SHOWS THE CAPS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED ETC--BUT I have no way to provide my email address here (it is not permitted) IF you replace with conventional caps you need to be very careful not to damage the foil paths on the top of the board...

Remember--I have no way to email you the photos--Toshiba will not provide you with this information as it is restricted---

Caps are all with CX location number:

261,270,230,178,221,250,514,5030,241,541, and 670.

Let me know if I can help.....

I have a toshiba 65hx81

I would strongly recommend that you test the horizontal output transistor as it seems to be the source of the problem.
