Why didn't you just get rid of the virus which is the easy solution? Or you could have done a System Restore to a restore point (date and time) before you caught the virus.Unfortunately most times those Recovery Discs don't work. The best Recovery Disk that works is the one the manufacturer puts on your hard drive.Have you checked your hard drive to see if there is a Recovery Partition on it?See if you can run the Check Disk Utility. To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /rCheck disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine. If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs. In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear. In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.
Battery
The rechargeable battery may have a bad cell, how long will the battery last before shutdown? this may give important clue about the condition. Generally if the battery is one to three old or more it is probably time to change it.
Asus u52 shut down unexpectedly
When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.
HOW TO TURN ON HARDWARE RADIO SWITCH
Wireless Radio Switch??Look for a button above the keyboard, it might be there or on the sides.
Look on
both sides and in front for the Wireless Switch and turn it on.
Also once the wireless switch is turned on there are keystrokes that can toggle
the wireless on or off. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN function
key located at the lower left of the keyboard, then hit the correct F1 thru F12
key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit will
have the wireless signal icon )))) on it. Or it might have the icon of a tower
with the wireless signal icon )))). Normally the screen will display
Wireless On or Wireless Off when you toggle the wireless.
Boot menu
You can change the boot order from the BIOS. Power on your laptop and hit the Del or Delete key to access the BIOS. if it's not the Del key then watch the screen for the key to enter the BIOS setup screen. It could be F2 or F10 since every laptop is different.

Flickering screen
Try an external monitor to the laptop and see if it flickers. If it does, more than likely your video card is going bad. If it does not flicker on the external monitor you probably have a loose video cable or lcd inverter cable. Go back inside and remove the 2 cables that go into the LCD Inverter that sits at the bottom of the LCD Screen, then plug them back in. Then unplug the video cable at the top behind the lcd screen, plug it back in and secure it with a piece of tape right where the two connections meet.
Sometimes I put mute on
Hi there,
This could indicate one of two things
1) There's a bad connection in the speakers or the wiring that connects to the speakers.
2) The sound card needs to be replaced. In this case you would uninstall the sound card drivers from the Start > Control Panel > Device Manager, reboot, then reinstall the sound card drivers from Asus's website.
Hope this helps.
