How can I replace the CMOS battery an ASUS laptop?

There is no replaceable CMOS battery on this model. It is probably a rechargeable battery on the motherboard. See Manual which only mentions the main battery pack. http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/UL50A/T4786_UL50.zip

Graphic card freezes ul50vt (switching graphic mode)

It sounds like it's starting to over heat pretty bad, or it's building up damage which is pretty bad for just a year. You may need to get the thermal paste within the laptop replaced and the dust cleaned out. Dust traps in heat pretty well, and can do a ton more than most think. Thermal paste is pretty much this glue for hardware the makes heat transfer between one device and another work at a steady rate for heat reduction. From what I know, they clean this stuff out for free at places like Laptop X Change :) I hope this helps. :D

Ul50vt crashing randomly, updated and no heat issue.

Do you mean it shuts downs suddenly. if so then - When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust. Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

Open the asus ul50v case

No hints. Just a disassembly pictorial guide that is real close, http://www.insidemylaptop.com/how-to-disassemble-asus-ux50v-laptop/Okay, maybe a few...............(lol!)1) Always remove ALL power remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.2) Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove. Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws.Advise DO NOT mix them up.As you can see viewing down the various photos in the pictorial guide, the Top Cover, along with the Display Assembly, is removed.Has to be removed in order to access the Power Button Board. In order to remove the Top Cover, the Keyboard is one of the items to remove first.Look at Step 4.The Keyboard Cable STAYS with the Keyboard. It removes from the motherboard connector.Again,....Removes FROM the motherboard connector. The Keyboard Cable is a FFC. Flat Flex Cable. It has NO connector on the cable. The connector is on the motherboard, and stays on the motherboard. The connector on the motherboard is made of two pieces. It DOES NOT come completely apart! If it is in two pieces it is broken, and you are looking at motherboard replacement.Hence why I am being so detailed. Do not break it!The motherboard connector has a larger bottom rectangular piece, which is the BODY.It has a slimmer rectangular top piece, which is the Locking Bar.The Locking Bar is wedge shaped. When locked into position in the Body, the wedge shape wedges the Flat Flex Cable, and locks it in.The Locking Bar is Brown. All you will actually see are two tabs of it.One tab on one side, and one tab on the other side.Use your finger/thumbnails, and ease the tabs towards the cable itself.(Away from the Body of the motherboard connector)If you look close at Steps 4 and 5, you can see the brown tabs of the Locking Bar have been moved forward, and away from the Body. The Locking Bar ONLY MOVES about 1 to 2 Millimeter's.[2mm is a little larger than 1/16th of an Inch. 1mm is a little larger than 1/32nd of an Inch. Use a tape measure to compare, or another measuring device ]I just searched to find a replacement Power Button Board. No luck on this end, hope you have better.Regards, joecoolvette

Asus always shows charging

Either your battery or the power cord has an issue. Does the battery ever fully charge and make the charging light disappear or turn green? If not the battery could be bad. Try running the computer off the battery by removing the power cord. if the battery starts losing charging strength real quick then your battery is bad. I've see bad batteries that say they are 100% charged but as soon as you remove the power cord it gets down to 5% i a matter of minutes.Try running the computer on just the power cord. If it stays on and lets you operate without any problem then the power cord is good. A good power cord will not charge a bad battery. If the laptop does not let you stay on long with the power cord, then either the power cord is bad or the DC Power Jack where the power cord plugs into the laptop is bad. If either of them is bad they will not charge a good battery.

Check your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

It make these screeching sounds

Hi,

Try to observe if the sound is coming from the fan or the hard drive. Also check if your computer seems to overheat, if yes, replace the fan before it could further damage your laptop. If the sound is coming from the hard drive, replace it since it is mechanically defective.

Goodluck.

HOW TO FIX SHUTDOWN START UP ASUS ASPIRE

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source. Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer. While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards Remove the memory modules from their slots. Take the opportunity to clean the slots on the motherboards and the memory module connectors. Use compressed air to blow dust away and clean contacts with a soft cloth. Do not use a metallic vacuum cleaner if it touches any component it may create a short and cause damage to the motherboard or other components. Do not use solvent that may attract dust and never poke things like cotton buds in to slots. lightly rub an alcohol on a cloth not to hard let the alcohol do the work on the copper gold or silver tabs and r Allow the pins to dry. They will air dry in a matter of minutes If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer. Check the memory module and memory slot contacts. They are either copper tin or gold. The colour will tell you which they are. Mixing tin and gold can result in corrosion that prevents proper contact. Look for any sign of physical damage to the memory module, memory slots or the motherboard. Reseat the memory modules. You should hear an audible click when they are in place. Do not use too much force to reseat the memory module in to the slot this can cause damage to the module, slot or motherboard. The hardware that you are trying to access is damaged or failing. Capacitor Capacitors, sometimes also called condensers, are used to store energy in an electric field. In the context of computing, capacitors are used to block the direct current being circulated around the motherboard. A typical capacitor should last up to 15 years, but some computer manufacturers use substandard capacitors resulting in shorter lifetimes. Computer Problems b> When a capacitor has gone bad on a computer you may experience a large range of problems. The computer may have trouble booting up, or it may shut down without notice after running for only a short period of time. The most common problems associated with faulty capacitors are that they cause unexpected computer crashes and general reliability issues ranging from read/write issues to distorted screen images. b> Identifying a Bad Capacitor b> To identify a bad capacitor you will need to open your computer case and locate the capacitors on your motherboard. A bad capacitor may exhibit swelling at the top or the base of the capacitor or it may sit at an awkward angle with the motherboard, so compare the various capacitors in your computer in terms of and placement. Additionally, a bad capacitor may have a funny smell or it may have a brownish residue leaking from the top or the base. b> Prevention b> Manufacturers claim that capacitors may go bad because a computer is not receiving enough power from a power supply, because of an overclocked processor or because a computer is operating in an environment with too much heat or humidity. However, some capacitors prematurely fail due to faulty work on the part of the manufacturer. If you have a bad capacitor be sure to do research as to the lifespan of other products made by your manufacturer. Identifying bad capacitors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngA4k32jLGc Capacitor replacement http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0Pn2tEjY04 How to check a capacitor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4tnHA0phcc Replacing a leaking capacitor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0Pn2tEjY04 The device drivers for the hardware are faulty or incompatible. Could be a problem with the Hard Drive or the Hard drives PCB http://www.onepcbsolution.com/ There is a connection problem such as a bad cable Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive SATA the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty. Although it would be very rare for the sata lead to be faulty. Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty Computers need power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error Hope this helps.
