If a file is locked, use the Lock command in the File menu to unlock it. If the memory card is locked, slide the switch on the edge of the card away from the contacts.

Serial numbers are usually on the machine...try looking in the battery compartment after removing the batteries.

make sure, you start the program dss2wav as Admin, no metter if you are the only user with admin rights! right click and use as admin! weeks of horrible tests until solving this prob, I swear

I had the same problem with my ds-2. The solution for me was

FIRST: Copy everything off of the DS-2

SECOND: Reformat the recorder. Go to Menu > SubMenu > USB Class >reformat

take off the battery for about 15 mnutes. this process will rest the unit.

I would suggest connecting it to your PC or MAC and manually erasing the files off of the device.

I am sure your device has some free software for it that can allow access to erase/edit file from a PC, the question is just where to find the software. Some of these devices come with CD's that have the software on it, for others you would have to download the software from the company website.

So please backup all your files from the device and format it. This should solve your problem Although this is tough to do,but you will have to do it
