Infinity BU-120 Subwoofer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a BU-120 and...
Resistors in sound system tend to burn out with short circuits or bad speaker wires.
The best thing to do get it repaired is to contact the maker of the device and they well let you have the number of the authorised service centre for where you live.
My infinity BU 120 is
Time for a new one.
Yours is shorted out internally, and could possibly start a fire inside itself.
God bless your efforts.
My son and I both own Infinity BU-120 subwoofers,

Infinity BU 120 Service Manual Amplifier subwoofer Bu 120 hts Hope this helps...My First "experience" of getting soot embedded in my SAFETY GLASSES... WAS PLACING OF A MODERATE SIZED "POLAR" filter capacitor in a pretty large RECTIFIER PANEL...I HAD FOLLOWED the Circuit Drawing ... (arguably correctly)as there was very little of it left)) when POWER WAS RESTORED ... (sort of)I came out of the EXPERIENCE WITH AN ENDURING respect for SAFETY GLASSES... looking rather like a Raccoon (I'm just saying).Wear them...!!

My sub woofer making noise like machine gun w out connect toamp
Disconnect the sub-woofer and see if the noise stops, if so the amplifier is OSCILLATING and so produces the noise. This can be related to fault with the pre-amp or audio processing section. Try and heat up the circuit using a hair dryer and if the fault clears then there are faulty electronic capacitors. If leak is seen then the pcb must be washed after the capacitor is replaced which can solve the issue.
Is there a on of switch and is the green or red
There is no main AC power switch on the BU series; it's in standby mode whenever it's plugged in.
When playing music normal LED color should be green. After no signal for 10 minutes or so it will turn back to Red (Standby)
Polk subwoofer making crackling noises
Yea, now its time to replace it! the magnetic effect is weaken which makes the very bass low frequency sound to be distorted! You should re engergise the magnet of the subwoofer or should buy the new!
My Infinity SSW-210 Servo Subwoofer quit working yesterday. The light is on and the fuse is okay but there is no sound coming out. Does the sub have another fuse inside?
Unlikely, but open it up and take a look. Some help here.

Infinity Servo Subwoofer How to? ' AVS Forum

Dec 26, 2009 - I picked up an Infinity Servo Subwoofer yesterday, but not quite sure as to how to ... The SSW-210 or SSW-212 have two drivers and no port.
Infinity tss 750 sub-woofer when powered on immediately pulls speaker in and has loud humming. no inputs hooked up, only plugged in to ac power source.
The loud humming is the sound of AC mains - clearly your amplifier is receiving an input from somewhere and possibly into the front end.
The hum could be induced by radiated energy from nearby unshielded equipment, it could be the result of an accidental hum-loop or could be because the amplifier power supply has a fault.
It is usual practice with amplifier construction to ensure unused inputs are shorted to ground by switching or by additional contacts and wiring at the input sockets. High gain high impedance inputs can cause a great deal of unwanted noise if they are not shorted.
I suggest you read the instruction manual and perhaps Google a few hints and tips about amplifiers and stuff.
