Hi Sylvia, Your problem is an un-matched tension of the threads. You mentioned doing an adjustment recently. That is the problem area. If your bobbin thread develops loops on the top side of the fabric, you need to tighten the bobbin tension. There is no easy method for this and you will have to do it slowly - tighten, test, re-tighten, test.... until you get a near perfect stitch. I haven't come across a portable device specifically designed to set thread tensions.

Easiest thing would be to take it to a repair shop and have them order you a new one. If you don't have a local sewing machine repair shop, try Ron Anderson at A1 Sewing Machine: [email protected] "Dual Sew" is not a brand I've ever heard of, so it's likely "badged" (private brand). Send him a photo of the machine from the front, a closeup of the ankle, and see what he says. I've known him for about 20 years now on the net; he's always been helpful, has a good reputation.

Assuming you have all the parts, the spring goes inside the little hole in the back of the mechanism.You then position the lever behind it, line it up with the bar that holds the lever, and put the lever pin back in.This is very tedious, and can be frustrating. You might consider paying for a new one.

Hey! I think something is wrapped around the reverse mechanism inside the machine, or the gear is broken.
Maybe you should open it and try to clean or give some maintenance on your machine:)
