Sounds like the lamp. The only way to really check it is to either put a new bulb in or put the old bulb in a different projector. Neither of which probably help you at this point. But, it does sound like the lamp is blown.

The lamp ballast is the problem. I'll bet your old lamp will work when the ballast is replaced.

You need to reset the lamp timer as follows:


Plug in the power cord and reset the lamp operation time by
holding down the LEFT/RIGHT ARROW KEYS, and the POWER buttons on the control
panel at the same time.

Baily, I have had my HC1500U color wheel replaced two times due to the color wheel's unpleasant "buzz saw" effect showing up every few thousand hours of usage. It is happening again for the third time and I am still within Coscto's warranty so I am going to have it replaced again...will never buy a DLP projector again...too many moving parts that can break!

Would love to be able to replace it myself if you ever find a place that sells the color wheel.

HelloIf the power light is ON and status light is OFF; check if any objects are blocking the air inlet or outlet grill, and remove them if any, and carry out the following.[1] Unplug the power cord from wall outlet.[2] Make sure that the projector has cooled off.[3] Plug the power cord into the wall socket.[4] Press the power button.Check whether the cooling fan has stopped. The problem is with overheating itself.If these does not help you, your projector need service. OK.

supposedly you replaced the lamp. is the cover on properly

The clicking sound is the high voltage power supply trying to
ignite the gas in the lamp. The lamp is not firing and coming on.
Check the bulb/ lamp life. Possible the lamp has exceeded its
useful life and may need to be replaced.
