All my photos from yesterday were deleted, and I

Hi,

I think you accidently selected FORMAT option from settings, Formatting the memory card erase all the data including protected images and other file types. So, once you formatted the memory card there is no way to restore them.

Thanks...!!

My Canon powershot A1100 IS is not focusing at

The focusing gear on that motor is stripped and the lens cannot focus. Not cost effective to repair. Canon will charge small fortune for the part and then the LABOR. Workiing on those small cameras is one royal PIA and labor intensive.

How do I recover pictures

you can often recover deleted photos from canon camera with asoftech photo recovery program. Download the program http://www.asoftech.com/apr/You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

Communication Error

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Took pictures yesterday but cannot find them today

Don't do anything with the camera, till you sure they are not on the card. If someone did delete them or formatted the memory card they don't need to be lost. If you have a memory card reader, please put the memory card in and connect it to the computer. Then use some recovery software, to check you (someone else?) did delete them by accident or even worse, formatted the memory card. If a recovery program can find one or more pictures, you can recover them too. three links to free (limited) recovery programs

Card locked but it's not? What can I do.

Oops. Later read what my first thought was. Forget that is what comes first means anything to you. Your camera is not that young. You only can us SD cards. It is very difficult to buy them. If you bought a 4GB card you definitely have a SDHC card and your camera can't work with that. Today even lots of 2 GB cards are already SDHC. I know if you look good, you could fine a 4GB SD card. I have bought some recently. Look for Platinum 4GB SD Card. Still if you are sure you do have a 1GB or less SD card, read what is next. Looks this is not on the card, but in the camera. It could be the switch that sees if you "Locked" the memory card is pushed by something else. I'm not sure if you could see that, with a magnifying glass perhaps and some extra light? Look in the memory card holder, if you see something strange. And only use some pressed air (never high pressure, because you could blow up your camera) A technician cold go a little farther, and open the camera. to check is there is no corrosion in the switch(es). But before you go out for a repair, I think you could buy a camera with better quality pictures now, for probably less money than repair would cost

How do I download the videos to my computer?

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO COMPUTER If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and videos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.
