One day the microwave had PF on the screen, we unplugged and plugged back in, the PF went away but it only heats for 30 seconds or less then shuts off and the PF comes back on. Any ideas?

PF means power failure. Quite possibly you a had a power surge and the control board was damaged.

Jvm1350 micro wave will not turn but timer does

follow this steps and fix it.God bless you
  1. Inspect the power cordUnplug the power cord and check for voltage at the outlet. Also inspect for damage, shorts, or burn marks that can be a possible safety hazard.
  2. Bad door switchIf your microwave does not work at all and you know everything is plugged in properly and the outlet is functioning, then also check the door hooks and the door release button. Using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check your terminals. When your microwave door is closed you should have a reading of zero. Once the door is open the reading should change to infinity. If these readings do not match up, replacement of the door switch is necessary.
  3. Blown fusesTo determine if your fuse has blown out, which may attribute to your microwave not running, you need to pull the fuse out using a pair of fuse pullers. Lay it down and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check both ends of the fuse in question. If you do not get a reading of zero, then you will need to replace the fuse.
  4. Bad fan motorLocate the fan and remove the leads. Again using the volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If an infinity reading is displayed, it means that the fan has gone bad and requires replacement.

My microwave runs and sonds normal but doesnt heat anyhing

First: Check the high voltage fuse (this fuse connects between the high voltage capacitor to one pin of the magnetron( careful this capacitor must be discharged)), replace fuse if it blown. Second: If this fuse blown again, the magnetron must be replaced (shorted). Note: These answers only apply when the microwave are working with normal sound but NO heat, If strange sound occurred that means could be something else faulty! Good luck

Buzzing noise and burned magnetron antenna

Seems you've posted on this several times, and I've answered them all, but I'll cover this one, too.

GE had a campaign (but not a recall, mind you!) covering several models.

Details are in their bulletin at http://207.234.249.73/mwd/ge_mw_mag_kit_bulletin.pdf

Even if your model is not on the list, the same problem can occur, requiring a kit. I just think the difference is that GE has stopped paying for the repairs.

The parts kit (that GE used to pay for) is part # WB27X10489 and is shown in the photo below.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Why does ge microwave blows fuse when door is opened?

Inspect the door switches and the wiring in the light bulb circuit. If the problem is a door switch, it will probably be visibly broken, or there will be burn marks on it. It's also possible that the door switch bracket is bent or broken and allows the terminals to short to the oven frame. Check the lamp socket - if it is cracked or burned, it should be replaced. Also look for signs of arcing or burn marks on the controller board, especially near the relays (usually black plastic boxes about 1" x 1' x 3/4' mounted near the wire terminals or wire harness connector). As a general note, it is rare for a fuse to fail by itself. If you find a blown fuse, look for a cause before replacing it. This may prevent wasting another fuse.

Code "F3" is highlighted on Key Panel

F3 usually means a problem with the control panel. There may be a corroded component or a power surge damaged the unit. Sometimes a little water will get into the keypad and cause the problem. First try unplugging the unit for ten minutes. That may reset error code. (For built-in units, you can try flipping the circuit breaker to off or removing the trim to reach the power cord.) If that fails, unplug the microwave again. You can remove the vent by unscrewing the top screws. Open the door to get the vent free. Then unscrew another screw to tip the keypad down (push up at the bottom of the panel). Disconnect the wires from the circuit board and remove the screws. Remove the circuit board and the shield behind it. Check over all of the pieces for dirt or signs of corrosion. (Clean gently.) Let everything dry (or use a hairdryer to dry all sides of the components). Then replace the parts in the reverse order. Plug in the microwave and check for the error. If that fails, replace the control panel. One source for parts is http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/microwaves/ge/jvm1640sj.html . I hope this helps. It may be cheaper to replace the microwave.
