Take it to a local emectric motor shop to have the start capacitor checked. It may be a simple fix and quite inexpensive. Of course, if the seal looks like it has been leaking and the bearings are damaged or frozen, you will need to replace the motor. Replacing just the motor and any damaged pump parts is generally cheaper than a whole new pump and will last just as long since all the moving parts are with the motor when you removed it.

If you did not press a reset ( and even if you did) the motor is damaged and that is causing the circuit breaker to trip. You need to have the motor inspected to see if the damage is repairable or if you need a new motor. A local electric motor repair shop should be able to take care of that for you. The thermal overload has reset itself if after cooling down the motor is trying to start but trips the breaker.

To be certain it is the motor, disconnect the line leads and be sure they are insulated from ground and one another. Turn the breaker back on. It should stay closed which confirms it is the motor tripping it when connected.

If for some reason the breaker still trips, there is a problem with the electrical circuit feeding the pump.

Yes this is an old thread but info is still helpful to those that are searching. Here is one diagram from a 3/4 motor. Be aware that most residential high voltage are 240v. This will have the motor turning a bit faster.

The values are stamped on the old capacitors. If you haven't got them, I would contact the manufacturers authorised agent for advice.

Try priming it water at the filter. Make sure that the filter o ring is sealing under the cap. Make sure there is enough water in the pool to enter the suction line and that it is not restricted.
