Yes, it can be replaced. Can be ordered from Black & Decker. Some people would say it's worth fixing others would not. Don't know cost of battery -- probably under $20.

This is a general manual for a whole heap of dustbusters but it includes CHV9600 so that's OK.

and check for dustbusters. CV9605 is not listed but there are eight possible choices for 9.6V types and at least one of them is going to be compatible. You DO need to check the model number with your actual vac to be certain what you're looking for.

There are screws in the handle of it, the battery is also in the "Base" handle simply locate all the screws, and unclip the case halves with a flat blade, and the battery is inside.

If you know that the charger is actually working and supplying the correct voltage.Then the age of the unit would suggest that the battery is exhausted and it would be cheaper to replace the whole unit.

no the hose,, check the filter and compartment behind the filter.. Note if there is air passing through the filter,, or being sucked through it.. If not chances are the extractor fan inside the machine may have broken ou will need to open it up and replace the fan.. Its an easy task all u need a a philips screwdriver and a blade typre

If your battery is not holding a charge, then you will need to replace the battery. Unless the charger isn't working, but usually it is the battery.

On 20V Black and Decker hand vac I was broken motor mounts. I took a housing off with 4 screws and could see that after 2-3 seconds of running the motor would move outwards and pull the fan into another housing. There are 6 struts that the motor rests within. But they do not provide enough friction to keep the motor from moving outward. So I cleaned everything off well, and wiped it down with some acetone. Then I epoxied these struts to the motor body. I think this will work.In the photo you can see a screw. There are breaks in the plastic body that the screw would secure.You can see some struts epoxied to the motor body.
