My wife's bosch mixer had a similar problem but it was a very loud grating problem. I talked to the bosch dealer in Utah, sorry, I've forgotten which one-- the one that does the repair. This is typically what happens: the seal on the blender wears out, which results in fluids from the blender dripping into the motor, onto the upper motor bearing. So, the upper bearing corrodes and is what is causing the bearing failure and the loud noise (needed hearing protection to operate it). I was lamenting the cost and time it would take to ship the mixer both directions (not actually that much compared to the price of the mixer), and he said he would sell me the bearing and the bottom replacement part of the blender that was leaking. So, I did the repair myself, but it took awhile, and I had to build a puller for the bearing to get it off the shaft, modifying a harbor freight gear puller. But it now is back to new. So, it was a success for me, but i would recommend anyone who isn't very mechanical to just send it off to Utah (again, I forgot the place, I think they talk about the shop in one of the other posts), and you will have a better than new machine.

the problem is where the pin on the beater shaft locks into the hook may be wearing down or the hook itself.when you put the hook on see if you get alot of play in the hook (wiggle it and if it feels really loose its worn).its still safe to use but eventually (and this may be quite sometime) the pin may break off the beater shaft.you would then have to replace the pin and hook.

The plastic worm gear had teeth missing. I was able to order a complete drive unit ($85) from appliancepartspro.com

The safety Lock on the bowl hasn't released. You will see it in a tube where the lid lock is. When the lid it locked into place, it pushes a rod down into a hole in the base to operate the safety switch. Check another appliance in the socket, if that works check the fuse

the drive shaft bush is dry ( probably from dough getting up the shaft) have the unit serviced /repaired and properly lubricated using food grade lubricate

Sounds like you have burnt something out. It likely won't last long. Probably the motor is gone.It may burn out when you put it to real work. Good luck.
