Pride Legend does not hold

First of all, here is the main PRIDE ONLINE SUPPORT User Manual Download page:

http://www.pridemobility.com/resourcecenter/Downloads/Product_Owners_Manuals/product_owners_manuals.asp

To view the Support Page just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated.

To download the Owner's Manual, just click on the appropriate model number in the list. There are 4 different LEGEND models to choose from, just pick whichever one is yours. You will then be asked if you want to OPEN or SAVE the document. Choose SAVE, then pick a place on your computer to save the file, such as the DESKTOP. Once it is saved there, you can open it and read through it.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there.

See page 12 of the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for detailed instructions on how the safety brake operates on an incline.

From the manual, it reads as follows:

When negotiating ramps, if the throttle control lever is released while moving forward, the
powered scooter may "roll back" approximately 1 foot (30.48 cm) before the brake engages.

If the throttle control lever is released while moving in reverse, the powered scooter may "roll back" approximately 3 feet (1 meter) before the brake engages.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

If this was at all helpful please click on the 4 Thumbs Up helpfulness rating icon you see on this page.

Thank you very much and good luck.

Joe.

My wife's Pride Legend scooter

There a several solutions to this problem and all involve removing the seat and rear cover of the drivetrain. The brake and lever arm of the brake is located on the end of the black motor. Moving the brake lever up and down places the motor in freewheel or locks the motor/brake. There is a connecting rod from the brake lever to a ball that can be pulled up or down where it exits the back cover.
The connecting rod and brake lever may be bent making it difficult to work. Gently bend it back into alignment if you can. Be careful not to damage the brake and brake lever. The rod is easily reshaped. There is also a chance that the mechanism is binding and rusted or loose. You should be able to work the rod easily. See if you can move the lever right at the brake.
The more likely culprit is an overheated seized brake with the only solution replacing the brake. I have also seen the hexagon shaped nut which is secured by 2 set screws onto the motor shaft inside the brake housing come off. The set screws get loose and the nut gets lodged in the brake. Both of these solutions requires removing the brake with some allen wrenches after noting its position on the motor shaft. Hope this helps.

Need cable for xtronix joy stick to plug into

This cable for the Quickie 525 Q-tronix electronics is made by Penny and Giles electronics. It is called a Redel cable and comes in lengths of 3, 4, and 5 feet. It is available from Quickie and Pride and probably available to retail customers from The Aftermarket Group or Wheelchair Wizard.

THE HANDLE WHICH LET

hiplady yep you might have to remove the console on the tiller which is held on by phillip screws located under the console. After you have all the screws out maybe 4 -6 screws depending on the type scooter console cover you have. Carefully remove the plastic cover and you should be able to see the throttle handle. It is held in place by a nut that tightens against a plate that the post goes through. That nut is loose or check to make sure that the plate holding the throttle handle is not loose on the tiller itself(some are held on by screws some are welded to the tiller) If you can tighten the nut between the throttle handle and the plate. Hope this helps you

Batteries will not hold charge very long????

anthony thats the problem batteries seldom used will not be broken in correctly and will get weaker rather than stonger. charging a handful of times will not do it. MK batteries recommends that new batteries be charged nightly for 20 days to break them in. Sorry you will have to get new batteries. Now new batteries usually have a 6 month warranty and if its been less than that try getting them replaced via warranty through the provider that sold you the chair Hope this Helps

Have trouble going up inclines.

Tell you what.... I had a friend that her mother had the same problem. Under normal use, flat surfaces, did fine, but slowed for a climb, we checked the actual axel on the bottom and found that her deep pile loose carpet had been collecting fibers on the axel and it slowed the tires. Check that and if that is not the problem, let me know, I can check further no problem.... Guy

I have a Pride go-go

Alan, this could be that the switch is getting worn. If you can take the console off and get access to the switch try jumping across the switch and check that the scooter turns on and doesn't beep. If it works properly then the switch is worn and you can replace the switch with a plain old on/off toggle switch. If you want to buy a toggle switch and use it to jump the switch and see if the scooter works correctly. If it does then replace the old switch with the toggle switch. Hope this helps
