Taking Apart the Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000
There are two hidden screws under the two stickers on the back of the keyboard. Just feel around for slight indentations and stick your screwdriver bit down into it and unscrew. Keep in mind though, this may void your warranty.

Hello,
Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.
Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change keyboards.
Under Installed services, click Add.
Double-click a language that includes (France), (Belgium), or (Luxembourg) as part of the language's name.
Under Keyboard, select an AZERTY keyboard layout.
Note
Not all of the AZERTY keyboard layouts are labeled as AZERTY. To verify if a keyboard layout is AZERTY, select the keyboard, and then click Preview.
Regards,
Katharsys

When I press apostrophe quotes
Download the Microsoft settings utility for this keyboard and check through the options settings, especially for "smart quotes." The smart quote, if enabled, may not show up at either end of the quoted phrase until you press the apostrophe/quote key the second time; then both will show in their proper places, and one of the quote marks will be inverted (a nice style touch, if you want it).

Keys sticking from spill on
Here's a little trick I have learned, from being the type of person that would cause a spill, and guessing that it was something sugary, that is the reason it is sticking, to fix this, get a clean, lint free rag and get some rubbing alcohol and dab just a little on the rag then wipe it across the keybord, pressing down on the keys so it can get down to the bottom of the keys. Do this as many times as it takes to wipe the entire area covered by keys.

The keyboard is not working. Nothing comes out
I don't know your level of technical experience, so some of these may seem obvious. These may not be in the best order, I've added them as I thought of them.
1) check the batteries in the keyboard and mouse. They can go through batteries in a big hurry sometimes. If just changed double check polarity.
2) check the connection(s) for the receiver. If you have pets check for chewed wires.
3) have you added any new USB devices. They may be using to much power from your USB ports
4) have you added any other wireless devices, includes non-computer devices.
5) have you tried resetting the keyboard and receiver signal.
6) check USB power output. You can plug in a different USB device and see if it works.
7) does your receiver require batteries (very rare).
8) you may need to reinstall your keyboard drivers and software.
Most wireless keyboards operate in the 400 Mhz range so do most wireless networks and many phones, these can all interfer with your signal.
