SOURCE: how do i diagnose a faulty neutral switch?? light

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A way to test the neutral switch is to check its continuity to ground. At neutral, it should read as 0 ohms.  Additionally, Suzuki uses a dual diode to interlink the clutch and neutral safety inlocks.  If the neutral switch checks out, this dual diode may have to be checked likewise.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

SOURCE: I can not start my Honda Goldwing 89 1500 Trike

Hi it sounds like the starter solinoid or starter relay is not working or there could be a loose wire or the starter motor is faulty

SOURCE: 1998 Honda Goldwing will not start nothing.

Sort of sounds like a Twilight Zone kind of problem doesn't it. I would have the battery checked for an internal dead short. This is something that happens on odd occasions and can happen even to a new battery. Yea, the little lights will work ( they do not draw much juice ), but the starter motor draws a lot of juice and a shorted battery just ain't got it. Also check the wiring harness connections. One loose connection can cause bunches of trouble.

SOURCE: Neutral Light won't come on; bike won't start

O.K. guys! for those of you having problems with your NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH . I had this problem on my 1994 goldwing se and after calling dealers that had all kinds of replies that I didn't like I decided to see if I could find a solution and I did find the problem and fixed it without having to even buy parts. The bad part is that you have many parts to remove to get at the problem but it's possible for anybody to fix the switch.
Here is what I did:I took out my manual and decided to remove the top part of the gas tank cover.By following my manual I removed the 2 pockets on each side of the handle bars then I followed the instruction on removing thecover that holds your radio all the way to the cover where you fill the gas tank. When that cover is released you will see wiring that plugs into your radio follow instruction and remove the plugs and get that whole cover out of your way....
Now on the left side of the bike (same side as the side stand) you will have to remove the left side cover where the REVERSE LEVER is again if you follow your manual it is possible to do without much trouble. Now when you have removed that side panel you will see where your REVERSE LEVER was and you will see a little switch attached to that reverse switch. REMOVE that switch and spray it with electrical cleaner solution and work it back and forth till you hear and feal it clicking and once that happens put it back on the bike and try it out.YOU SHOULD HAVE A GREEN LIGHT AND YOUR BIKE SHOULD START. That is how I repaired my switch and don't have the green light problem at all now.IF THAT SOLVES YOUR PROBLEM YOU CAN NOW PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER.
If your switch doesn't clean up and doesn't work you can order one from hondaline.

SOURCE: neutral light won't turn on and bike won't start

The click u hear means your neutral isn't the problem, it means your new battery is trying to start the engine, however the power isn't making it to the starter. check the battery cables for good connection in the ends of the wires and at the start relay (the positive wire from the battery goes to the start relay that may need replacing) also from the start relay that you hear clicking down to the starter.make sure cable and nuts that hold them are clean in good shape. to get the neutral lite to come on the side stand doesn't do it, the shift lever does. you can be sure you are in neutral when the bike can roll without the clutch being pulled. If the bike is in neutral and the lite doesn't come on then replacing the bulb or sensor might be necessary.
