I have three 1980 kz 1300 all of them run.one of them will start ,only runs on choke for about a min then dies.it will start back up but dies fast.new battery,has good spark,fuel getting to carbs,comp good, carbs have been done.alternator output is good.Ive been told these bikes are a pain.

i'd start with removing the carbs and giving them a thorough cleaning as when bikes sit for so long, the carbs begin to get gummy/varnished from the old gas.

check for blocked holes in the pilot jet & main jet and look for "hard & dried up" gas in passages. be careful of the float bowl gasket as to not tear it or you will need a replacement.

you will probably need two sets of gauges to do a six cylinder as most synch sets are fours or two's..

A couple of initial checks (after battery has been fully charged):

• presence or absence of spark when starting - unplug 1 of the sparkplug wires. Attach a spare known good sparkplug and lay it against any metal part. Crank/start the engine. Chaeck for sparks;
  
• try starting with the clutch lever pulled in and/or the sidestand folded up;
  
• exercise the 'Kill Switch' and the ignition switch;
  
• loosen the drain screws of the carbs.  Note the quality and quantity of fuel that would flow out from the drain hose. Compare between all carbs.

have u checked the float hight on the carburator? also make sure ur choke curcuit i clean and free of dirt
