Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, if the problem is that the starter motor will not turn when the start button is pressed, determine if there is a clicking sound:

  • if there is, then the starter relay is activating but not engaging. To confirm, temporarily short the 2 big terminals of the starter relay. The starter motor should turn;
  • to locate the starter relay, follow the battery's + cable;
  • if starter motor will not turn even when the relay's terminals are jumped, the faulty starter motor most likely the carbon brushes and/or the commutator segments;
  • if the starter motor spins when terminals jumped, then the starter relay is faulty;
  • if there is no clicking sound, try with the clutch lever pulled in and/or the side stand folded up;
  • check the neutral switch / light.
Postback results of above tests.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

It's most likely the starter drive gear when you pull the starter out it is the gear the starter rides on that is a direct drive starter and has no benducs

Bmw e90 start

Try the other key.
Get someone to measure volts at the starter motor as you try to start it, that will eliminate the starter motor (unlikely to be that as you say no noise at all but still worth checking)
It could be the ignition switch or a related part.They are known to fail

My first impression was that the battery hasn't got enough power to run the starter ans supply the computer with the 9 volts necessary to create ignition. When you push start it the battery is supplying enough voltage for the engine to start.

In short you need to service and charge the battery or a new battery.

Your firing order is most likely to go 1423 with the first cylinder being on the left (shifter) side of the bike. This is what many Kawasaki's used.

Starter will not engage

Either your battery is bad or a connection has worked loose. Check battery cables (both ends) and if everything is tight replace the battery.
