the term CDI refers to Capacitor Discharge Ignition so you could by pass it ( throw it out ) but will need some other sort of ignition system to run the bike
Would it not be simpler to replace it / fix it find the reason that it is not working, like is the stator producing power to run the CDI , or is the battery in good condition
Hi Vickie the CDI cannot be by passed the signal from the stator is different to the signal required to power the coil. The only way to bypass is change the whole system which would be costly and difficult to source parts.
You cant bypass the CDI. This is the brain of the electronics and without it.........nothing. See if you can borrow another one to see if it is faulty.
I would have to say that no you can not bypass the cdi unit on the bike because it is the heart of the ignition system (some might call it the brain even but it is one of the main components).
