Honda element problemsi have a 2003 awd.the rear tires are getting worn on the inside and it looks as if the rear wheels sit at an angle with the top tilting into the car.have replaced struts and realighned multiple times and still having problemalso have an issue when trying to start car,ignition clicks and wont start until you turn steering wheel one way or another and try to start again,then will finaly kick over.any ideas?

Probably just needs an alignment. Also.............your tires will wear more evenly if you keep the tire pressure at 35PSI in all 4 tires. I don't know why but, that seems to be the best tire pressure to run on Elements.

Sounds either like the solenoid on the starter is bad or the starter its self.First try turning on your head lights and then trying to start it.If it starts then you have some bad connections either on the battery or the starter. next if that doesnt work Try hitting the starter with a hammer while someone else cranks it.If it starts then the starter is bad..

It won't make any difference, seeing that the car is older and you don't have the ABS functionable it won't change anything. You already have the ABS light on so nothing new will happen.

You will need to rent a spring compressor or borrow one from advance auto parts. The access ports are usually in the back of the car, some have plastic caps over them usually about 6 inches square and some you have to take the inside trim panel off in the car to gain access. Do not attempt to take the struts out without a spring compressor or you will get hurt as the springs are under a lot of pressure so when un bolted without the proper tool they can come apart and you will for sure need a stich or two.

What you hear is most likely a front axle that needs to be replaced. This is caused by a tear in the axle boot behind the wheel, which allows contaminates (sand, grit, small debris, water) to enter, which results in failure of the bearings, and the 'clicking' noise you hear. Changing the axle is a big job. I would recommend you consult a manual to see what is involved, as it's quite extensive.
To confirm my diagnosis, jack up the car, support with safety stands to allow you to safely crawl under it to inspect the boots of both axles. I am quite sure you will find tears or splits. Evidence of grease around the area is also an indicator that the boot is damaged, and axle grease is escaping. Let me know if you have any other questions. Curt

Rear wheels toeing in at top wearing inside of tyre

Your car needs a Rear Wheel Alignment, the components need to be inspected/checked for wear and then aligned. Worn ball joints, wheel bearings and so forth can cause bad alignment & tire wear.
Also it's hard to get an accurate alignment once a tire is worn on the inside or outside of the tread.

Depends on the model, if it is all wheel drive it should have AWD on the back window.
The Honda CRV uses very smart technology to have AWD. Let me explain it simply. The CRV is essentially a front wheel drive car, but there are sensors mounted on all the tires that sense slipping. If the computer determines the wheel is spinning faster than the other ones, it uses hydraulics to engage the rear end differential and presto..All Wheel Drive. You do nothing, no switches, no levers, the computer does it all for you. If it is indeed AWD, you can look under the car to see if you have a driveshaft going into the rear differential (axle)

Looks like a wheel bearing issue. If the wheel bearing is worn out you can expect a grinding sound. Wheel bearing replacement is strongly recommended.

2003 honda rancher es wont shift electricly. replaced angle sensor and it worked for 30 sec. and then quit working again

i am not very technical but i did figure this problem out. there is an aluminum plate with fins behind the right rear tire. i can remove it and wipe off the back , unplug the quick disconnect, put it back together again and my shifting problem is taken care of. seems like once it gets wet i have to do it again.

My back tires are rubbing against the struts. I have checked the wheels and tires and both are correct sizes for my car. I can not figure out why the tires are rubbing the struts. The inside of the tires...

There are a couple of things that can cause this. worn parts used for aligning the rear wheels can cause it (they're kinda like tie rods, but don't tie the wheels together) or, the wheel bearings are going out. neither are extremely expensive, but are very important. The wheel bearings are the most likely, as they will allow the tops of the tires to tilt towards the inside. Jack up your car so that the rear wheels are off the ground. Can you make the wheel wobble all directions(even if only a small bit)? If so, then you need to change those rear wheel bearings.

Right rear pad and worse

The problem described here indicates that you may have the AWD (full time 4WD) drivetrain of the 2003 Element.

It is normal to have 1 side of the vehicle to have increased wear due to the transmission differential, that allows your vehicle's wheels to move at different speeds from the others (turning, inclines, etc.)

Your brake pads really need constant inspection and possible replacement (approx 5,000 miles) with everyday driving, and is really a consumable item like your fuel.

You will find that it is much cheaper to replace the brake pad/lining of your disc brakes than grinding down the supposedly shiny discs that slow down your vehicle.

RE: salt/snow, you can improve your discs' longevity by rinsing them out with warm water after being driven in extreme conditions.

I have a 2007 Honda Element EX AWD. After driving

If it is still under warranty they should have put a new transmission in and your first problem sounds like a steering problem, not sure if you have electric power steering or pumped power steering but those should be the first things looked at and then the wheel linkage.

Possible suspension problems

need to jack that side up and check for looseness in wheel the popping is probably your axle going bad since the boots are ripped. might also have a wheel bearing worn this will cause the tire to lean and vibration jack up and shake wheel
