SOURCE: Meaning of lightening bolt in a semicircle symbol on dashboard in BMW?
Is it a lightning bolt between two arcs, they look like parenthesis? Possibly the brake wear indicator showing that your brake pads need to be replaced. If no, please give some more details such as what you mean by a semicircle, or a picture of the warning light. Some of the newer vehicles have that symbol when the electric parking brake is on, but I have not seen any E36's with the electric parking brake.
