Will only bump start

Hello so ive had my rs 125 about a month now , its never started by the button it just seems to click , also when started and rideing the battery dosent charge , , ive had it on a tester and only giveing out 0.5 amps , anny idears

Most likely you battery is dead. Take it in and have it tested. Most auto parts stores and Walmart will test it for free. After you replace the battery, you will want to buy a trickle charger and give it an overnight charge once a month. You can get them for about $20 if you shop around. If your battery checks out then it could be you alternator.

Start with a new spark plug. Now do you see spark? If not, check the side stand kill switch. It kills the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down. If broken or out of adjustment, it would kill the spark. Check for a broken wire at the side stand switch and coupler. Try moving the kill switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it.
Check the fuses. How good is the battery? Try a jump start from your car battery. Is the handlebar kill switch on?
Check the operation of the ignition switch and all kill switches with a volt ohmmeter. Check the wiring harness. Did a wire come unplugged? Are all wires clean and with solid connections? Any abraded or pinched wires? Is the bike in neutral and the neutral light is lit up? If no neutral light, check the neutral switch and neutral switch wire on center casing. If still no spark, get CDI system and coils checked at the dealers shop.

well thats the battery i guess its not turning the engine over fast enough for it to fire also try bumping it in 2-3 gear if it starts you know ya problem battery if it still doesnt go get back to me buddy

tilt tank back and look at the spark plug clean it aswell then try it get back to me if not ok also i have amanual i will look for the spanner tomorrow night buddy

ok buddy on carb will be a screw try fiddling with this screw till it runs ok also try changing the spark plug underneith the tank you can access this screw from the right side just on carb next to the idle screw black big one with a long flat head screw driver get back to me if no difference

When I try start my aprilia rs 125 it just makes a clicking noise anyone know what it might be?

I had this problem last month and it turned out to be the starter motor cable had disconected from the relay. The clicking noise is the relay clicking in but the starter motor not initiating. the cause could be as simple as the cable disconnected but most likely it is your starter motor has gone. Hope this helps.

Check your battery connection. It sounds like you have dirty terminals and it just needs a clean. There does not seem to be a manual available for the RX but plenty for the RS, check http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp , and there might be some more information in one of the manuals.

Bought a 52 plate rs 125 tonight, rode it home and engine cut out on me, i then tried to get it started but starter motor just made a clunking noise, i bump started it but it cut out again and now i can't...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Even with the "...lights are all working...", it would appear to be an electrical issue. Initially, have the battery externally charged and load tested. This is to eliminate the battery possibility.

Offhand, basic checks would involve tracing at what point, connector or wire that the +12 is missing or goes down when starting. Required would be a testlight preferably or a voltmeter. The wiring diagram would also come handy.

When i press the start button it doesnt do anything....i can hear a click noise but thats it....it will bump start but i havnt ridden it far after its bumped just in case.... why would it not be starting...

If you can hear a click then your solenoid sounds like it is working.First you should check your battery voltage and if not over 12v charge your battery and this should solve the problem.If not it could be your starter and you can come back to me.

check voltage at battery, then check voltage at solonoid, then check voltage at starter. were does it stop? also check batt cables,fuse cons. any corosion? water damage?
