2008 Honda CBR 125 Speedo Dial Trapped

My speedo dial has managed to get trapped on the wrong side of the upright pin that it is supposed to rest against when the bike is stationary. This means that the dial can't move when the bike is moving. The only way I can think of to get this fixed is to remove the instrument panel and move the dial manually to the other side of the pin.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, and it worked!! Bad news, though, once I got back on the bike the dial started going berserk and is now back where I started on the wrong side of the pin!!!!!!

The cable is OK, I checked that, looks like it could be the speedo mechanism itself, and that sounds ominously like a garage repair.................

Now this one is only a guess at the solution. . . . . Have you removed the speedo and turned it upside down yet? Perhaps there is enough clearance between the needle and the plastic lens that you could shake the needle to the correct side of the pin. Speedos are not my strength but what the heck, it may be worth a try.

You could probably buy a new speedo for the cost of a repair. Your bike is new enough would warranty cover the problem?

I have a honda cbr and the odometer dsnt work

the speed sensor next the starter motor
sends a voltage pulse to the speedometer.

If you can get at the connectors
just down from the speedo you can
check for this pulse.

Block the back wheel off the ground.
Unplug the connectors and hook
a volt meter to the pink/green +
and the green/black - wires
on the harness side not the speedo side.

Turn on the key and then
check for a 0-5 volt pulse
when you turn the wheel forward
slowly.

If you have a pulse the speed sensor
is likely okay and your speedo
circuit board is faulty.

If you get no voltage pulse then you have
to check the pulse closer to the
speed sensor or check the connectors
and wires for faults.
No pulse can be a faulty speed sensor
or just a bad connection.
Have you checked the fuses well?

I have a Honda NSR 125cc and the speedo works some times then stops working. I have just recently taken the front wheel off and not sure if i have put the speedo back correctly, i carnt get any pics to see...

Chances are your speedo cable is starting to wear.. on both ends of the cable there will be little plastic pins that stick out, when you put the cable back in you need to make sure that these pins (they are flat rectangle shape) insert into the correct place and align up properly.. but it sounds like your going to have to replace the speedo cable, its a simple job once get a new one..

Bought a new bike however has no brake fluid in it, where does it go

There are reservoirs near each brake actuator. if they are empty the brakes need bleeding to remove trapped air, otherwise they will not work. Take it to a mechanic.
