Was the new battery fully charged before you installed it in the bike? If you got it from Walmart or a similar place, it needed charging prior to installation.

I'm having issues starting my 2003 Yamaha roadstar 1600. I push the start button and it only clicks...I replaced the selinoid and it only clicks. What do I do?

Hi Scott if its clicking its working. Try putting power to the starter direct. If that don't work you need a starter motor. Regards Jim...

I have a 1999 Yamaha Roadstar 1600. I ride the bike for minutes or hours and the bike stops running. The bike has no electrical power and wont start leaving me stranded. If i wait a few hours the bike...

Check if the charging system works ok.
At idle with lights off, you should see 13.5-14.5V on battery's terminals and 0.5V less with high beams on, at idle speed as well as at 4000rpm.
Use a fresh good verified battery to take the readings.

2003 yamaha roadstar leak fuel sometimes after I shut it off I think the floats are sticking any solutions. Rick

Yes Rick, try a couple of tricks I know.First, open the carburettor drain screw located at the base of the carburettor, this lets fuel flow out of the carburettor drain located next to/under it.(To acces this drain screw look between the engine cylinders from the LEFT of the bike)While the fuel is draining out,tap the fuel bowl.Next re-tighten the carby drain screw and see how that goes.I would suspect your bike has a vacumatic fuel tap that has 3 positions on it.1 marked on, 1 marked res, 1 marked pri.If the fuel leaks occur when in the on or res position this means part of your problem is a leaking diaphram in the fuel tap.Replace this & when engine isn't running,no fuel can flow to the carby when it's in the on or reserve positions. After ensuring the tap is ok, and trying the first trick,if it still leaks, well then you'll have to pull off the carby and give the needle and seat a clean.
Hope this healps Regards Andy Porrelli

I bought a repoed 1700 roadstar and i am tring to remove the drivers seat i have tried everthing any tips the key has wheel lock and seat lock ? I have also tried that no luck. help.

Put the key in the ignition. To lock the steering push the key down and turn the key. To unlock the seat, DON'T push the key down. Instead, just turn the key counter clockwise.

Bike will not start no power

Touch a 12" piece of wire to one terminal then touch the other end of the wire to the other terminal. Got a really good spark? No spark = bad battery. Okay, so you do get a good spark. Check the wiring harness for an unplugged wire. Also check for loose connections and burned wires. Bad ignition switch? Kill switch turned on?
