Ignition pickups on the timing plate are breaking down when they get hot and killing your sparks...coils are going bad with same effect...or you have valve clearances that are too tight.

Does this motorcycle have a radiator if so, make sure it's full if it is go online and see if there's a sensor that shuts the bike down when it gets too hot. Maybe there's something wrong with that

  • sammy thompson Dec 19, 2017

No this bike does not have a radiator it's air cooled. You may want to make sure your oil level is correct this bike will shut off with low oil.

SOURCE: stalling out

u have the mixture screw wound in to far. its normally located on the bottom of the carb. try winding it out half a turn at a time once the bike has warmed up. also turn the idle screw out a quarter of a turn at the time its in to far thats why it idles at low revs. the choke is needed to keep the air fuel mixture right thats why u are having to leave it on for so long. hope this helps.

SOURCE: stalls and acts like its out of fuel.

It's not getting fuel, so I suspect fuel filter or gas tank vent plugged. Next time it quits, open the gas tank. If you hear a whoosh of air, your vent is plugged so either clear the hose, find out where it is pinched or replace it. Fuel filter may be inside the tank, if so you will need small hands to get to it. Consult Haynes or Clymer's manual for exact location.

SOURCE: 94 GSXR 750 DIED WHILE RIDING AND WILL CRANK BUT NOT START

There may not be an in-line fuel filter on the bike. Most bikes don't come with them. Yes, the fuel petcock has two screen filters on one pipe and they can get clogged up. Remove the tank then remove the petcock and clean it. The gas in the tank should be dumped into a clear plastic storage bin so that you can see if there is any water in the gas as well as rust and trash. Your bike is 15 years old and the inside of the tank may be rusty. If so, Google kreem fuel tank liner “ or go to

www.http://www.4secondsflat.com/Fuel_Tank_Sealer.html

This will end the rust problem. Go ahead an install an in-line fuel filter. There is a drain plug on the lower left side of each carb. Drain each carb into a clear container and look for water and trash. You may need to clean the carbs but hold off to see if the other stuff fixes the problem.

SOURCE: starts and stays running with choke on. stalls

Pay special attention to the parts in red. DO NOT mix parts from the front carb with parts from the back carb. When removing adjuster screws and jets, count the number of turns to remove them, write it down, and replace with the same number of turns.

I recently had my wiring harness replaced on my 93 katana 750. he also cleaned carbs, fuel filter, drilled jets bigger (he did this because it had after market exhaust slip ons and i didn't want to pay for...

When too much fuel is being supplied to the carburetors the engine is flooded. When you remove the spark plugs it allows the fuel to dissipate enough to allow the engine to run again. Drilling out the jets is not an accurate/preferred method for changing the jet size. Most of the time the jets end up being drilled too big. You can save money by just buying main jets. A jet kit usually will come with the slide needles made with a different taper from the stock needles. You may need to break down and buy a jet kit or a least replace the main jets with accurately sized main jets (not drilled out jets). In other words your main jets are just too big.

My 1996 750 Katana runs but it will only run with

You may need to rebuild the fuel tap with a new diaphram kit.

The fuel tap has a small rubber diaphram and plunger, which can go hard, stick closed , or wear out and get a hole.
Also check the vacumn hose than opperates the tap is in good condition
Pri bypasses the vacumn opperated fuel tap, sometimes this can cause the carbs to flood or have higher than normal float levels..
Running it on prime can also cause the carbs to flood fuel into the engine filling the sump, which then s ucks fuel vapour through the crank breather into the airbox, and then through the carbs causing over rich.
If this has happened you also need to change the oil and fit a new air filter element

I have a GSX 750 that has been running rough. It

It has a timing chain but that is not the problem. The fuel system is probably the problem. Water / trash in the gas, weak fuel pump, plugged injectors, gas tank vent partially plugged, dirty air filter? The spark plugs are also a likely target. I would start there since it is a cheap fix and you can do it yourself.

1995 750 Katana will not stay running

did you try the fuel petcock on the bottom of the tank? If not, pull it out and check the fuel filter on the top of it. If it won't start because of no fuel, that maybe the problem or it could just be a vaccum leak. Check the tubes for leaks or just replace them, they are cheap. If it isn't starting because it floods out from to much fuel, then it might just need a new petcock. How did the diaphrams on the top end of the carb look?

It wont stay running in stalls out from time to time

Change the fuel filter, clean the carb jets again, and replace the air filter. This should take care of it but sometimes when they sit for awhile, you will need to clean the carbs numerous time as the gunk in the tank continues to wash down into the carbs.

05 suzuki katana 750 idle issues

Idle issues can be fuel/air (mixture ratio) or igition (spark strength). It sounds like an air restriction issue. If there is no blockage throught the air inake/filter, make sure you adjust the jets to specifications and make sure there are no float issues with the carbs.
