I do know the difference between cleaning a carb and rebuilding one, I dont think they need rebuilding as all the rubber parts look and feel almost new plus that dont answer why carbs work fine just after clean out, maybe I should try hotter plugs as the starting problem started when it begain getting cold out. Thanks for your time and thoughts. These bikes can be hesitant to start unless the battery is fully charged. Also they do not need much choke in warmer weather. These bikes can be hesitant to start unless the battery is fully charged. Also they do not need much choke in warmer weather.

Cleaning the carb and installing a new carb re-build kit are different. After that I would get my carb sync'ed together.Cleaning the carb and installing a new carb re-build kit are different. After that I would get my carb sync'ed together.

Floats are sticking in carbs and staying open which causes fuel to overflow.you can try tapping float bowls with screwdriver handle sometimes this will free up floats .If this dosen't work you have to remove and clean carbs.Good Luck
sounds like a fuel restriction or flooding.. check the fuel filter or kinked fuel line.clogged pitcock....you could have not put he jets in right and your flooding out the motor..check throttle return spring.. set the floats correctly?...you must use the measuring gauge in the carb rebuild kit to measure the correct float hight after rebulding the carb and replacing the floats...
Hello shawn...Yes indeed gasoline can degrade over time. That can lead to a number of problems, ranging from hard starting, to rough running, to no starting at all...If your bike was stored for 2 years the gasoline in it has degraded beyond use. Even if the gas was treated with stabiliser before it was stored...it will still degrade in 10-12 months, if not sooner. I'm suprised your bike will even start. I suggest you drain ALL the gas out of the tank, Rinse and refill with fresh gas, drain your carbs as well...the stale gas has most likely clogged the pilot jets, draining the carb bowls will help. Go to your parts store and buy a can of "Seafoam" pour 1/2 of it in with your fresh gas..use the other 1/2 on your next tank of gas. Replace fuel filter after 1st tank, the seafoam will dislodge any debris that was in the fuel tank. It will also clean the combustion chambers and carb jets. Check your carb boots for any cracks or detoration that would cause a vacuum leak. Replace your spark plugs. If your bike is still running rough after this, then the carbs will need to be removed and cleaned and/or rejetted. Good luck..i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.
wow, 7 years without use! try to check if the fuel pump motor is still working... also check the fuel lines if its clogged.. I hope you get your bike up and running again... feel that adrenaline rush when going 100+mph.. hehehe.. have a good one bro...
With a new plug and fresh gas it should start. Check to make sure there isn't a kill switch turned off or that the gas petcock from the tank to the carb is on.
How did you check the fuel filter? Disconnecting it from the fuel line that goes to the carb is the best way, making sure the gas is turned on under the tank. Bleed off a little gas into a can or something just to make sure the filter isn't plugged.
The last thing I'd do is take off the air filter and spray a little starting fluid in the carb. It may start and run several times if there is old gas in there somewhere. Remember the bowl on the carb is probably still full of old gas. After some fresh fuel reaches the plug it should start and continue to run.
(You might drain the bowl on the carb of ols gas before you go any further)
check or replace fuel filter..if you've done that the check fuel pump to make sure its pumping out fuel....take line off fuel filter that goes to carbs and put it in a can start bike and you should see fuel coming out.

Does this bike have a fuel filter. Filter could be stopped up.
